The opening date for Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland has been announced.
It's been four years since Disney revealed that Splash Mountain would close at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World to remove its culturally insensitive themes and introduce a new, modern, and inclusive narrative.
Splash Mountain debuted at Disneyland in 1989 and later at Disney World in 1992, drawing heavily from "Song of the South," a 1946 Disney film that portrayed outdated and racist stereotypes.
When Disney announced the ride's closure to update its themes, it also disclosed that the attraction would be reimagined based on the 2009 Disney animated film "The Princess and the Frog." This landmark film featured the first Black Disney princess, Tiana, a strong and inspiring culinary genius.
After a long wait of four years, Tiana's Bayou Adventure officially opened at Disney World on June 28, featuring a refreshed design, new characters, and an engaging storyline.

At the recent Disney Experiences Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, Disney Experiences chairman Josh D'Amaro announced — among numerous other updates — that Tiana's Bayou Adventure is set to open at Disneyland on November 15.
After launching at Walt Disney World earlier this year, Tiana's Bayou Adventure will debut at Disneyland on November 15 in the newly renamed Bayou Country.Furthermore, Critter Country, which housed Splash Mountain, will be rebranded as Bayou Country upon the opening of Tiana's Bayou Adventure this fall.
Bayou Country will also feature existing attractions like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes, and the newly reimagined Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. The revamped restaurant will offer a menu filled with comfort food favorites such as pulled pork sandwiches, barbecue platters, ribs, and all the sides.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disney World. TARAH CHIEFFI/DinogoLike its recently opened counterpart at Disney World, Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland continues the story from the film: Tiana successfully opens the restaurant she has longed for and enjoys her happily ever after (as a human) with Prince Naveen.
The attraction follows Tiana on her quest to find musicians for her grand Mardi Gras celebration. While Tiana's Bayou Adventure features new music, animatronic figures, and storyline elements, the ride's track, vehicles, and iconic 50-foot drop remain unchanged, ensuring a splashy experience.
It has not yet been confirmed if Disneyland will offer Lightning Lane, a standby queue, a virtual queue, or a mix of these options when the attraction opens. If Disneyland follows the approach of Disney World, the ride will be accessible via Lightning Lane Multi Pass and a complimentary virtual queue. More details will be revealed as the opening date nears.
Regardless of how guests will line up for the ride, we know that you only need to wait until November 15 to experience "down the bayou" with Tiana at Disneyland in California.
