Aiya Resort Koh-Tao

I've been to Koh Tao many times and this is one of my favourite stays in Koh Tao! The resort is quiet and private, tucked away in a corner of Sairee, but also walking distance to the fun & action. The room is huge, bright and airy, and a huge sunny balcony great for chilling and drying all your wet gears. Room is fully equipped with kettle, fridge, hairdryer, safe box and plenty of power sockets for all your device charging. There is a decent size pool, with 2.5m at one end and jacuzzi at the other, great for swimming, or just chilling. They also clean up the room everyday, and give us fresh towels everyday, something I found lacking in another resort we stayed on the island. There's also a cute lazy and sleepy cat, you'll find it sleeping on the corridors in the day time! They offer pick up from the pier and there is a convenience store just next door. Everything is super convenient and comfortable, and at a great price!

I have stayed at 4 different hotels in Koh Tao and this is my favorite. The rooms all face the swimming pool, so they have a great view. The hotel is off the main strip, so it might be a bit of a walk, but it is always quiet at night. The swimming pool is quite large if you are into that. The main desk has been staffed by the same person for the last 3 years and is really friendly. There is also a free ride to/from the ferry. My only regret is that I couldn't book my full 3 weeks there as it was a busy spring on the island.

We spent two nights in this hotel. Everything was very clean and modernly furnished. Owners are friendly. The hotel is a bit out of the way, within a 5 minute walk you are in the center of the action (many restaurants and bars). We spent a day exploring the island on a scooter. We would have liked to stay in the hotel for another night, but it was fully booked. We would love to come back 😊

It is located in the most touristy area, so it depends on whether you like that or not, it will be better or worse.The facilities are very good (room and pool), but the service is fair… you have to notify several times for them to make the room.

Great value for the price. We stayed 4 nights and were delighted with the stay. Cleanliness, bed, pool and location... ten minutes walk from all the hustle and bustle of restaurants and bars. They pick you up and take you to the port for free, which is great! I totally recommend it.

Our visit began with the staff kicking the hotel cat, which was quite a shock for us. The cat was just in the way, but there was no need to kick her that hard. Our bed was comfortable, however, the bathroom looked somewhat wrecked. The faucet was very loose and felt like it would break at any moment. Moreover, the shower was constantly dripping water, which could be heard in the room when trying to sleep. Plus, a perpetually wet shower is a breeding ground for microorganisms and mold.Our friend, who was a couple of rooms away from us, didn't have these problems though. The pool is beautiful and clean, and we didn't notice as much chlorine as some other reviewers did. Perhaps the resort could add some parasols for the pool loungers. Otherwise, you lie in the sun with no escape in the morning before noon. The loungers also have no cushions, the dark wood looks beautiful, however it's also hard as wood as you would guess.If you plan to give them your laundry, allow some extra time. They told us three times that they needed more time for doing the laundry. They required an additional 18 hours. Why claim less time in the first place?The hotel has three floors; the first floor is directly on the ground with the pool. You can look straight into the rooms from the pool. We were lucky and were on the second floor.Fortunately, the hotel is not noisy like we have experienced in every other hotel in Thailand so far. In the morning, when the sun rises, the room stays pretty much dark, which is great if you want to sleep in a bit.They lent us bikes for 2 days (one day 250 Baht), a copy of our passport was enough, which was great. The total stay for 2 days with 2 rooms was 7508 Baht (€193, $211, £165), without the bikes.The hotel offers a transportation service back to the pier for 100 Baht each person. The driver, who was the pool also the pool attendant at the same time, was a really nice and friendly person.

Pros: Close to restaurants and Sairi Beach. I especially liked it because it wasn't too busy inside. The swimming pool is quite large and clean, so I use it every day! The terrace was large and sunny, so it was great for drying off my swimsuit and relaxing. When I first checked in, the room was cleaned well and the bed was soft.Cons: The bedding had a bad smell, like the pillows, as if they hadn't been washed. During my 3-night stay, I went out early in the morning every day to go diving and returned home after 1pm. I put up a card asking for the room to be cleaned, but it was never cleaned. There was construction going on nearby across the street, so it was noisy and there was a strong smell of something burning.Additional: Wi-Fi does not work on the 3rd floor! It worked well on the 1st floor with a swimming pool... If you don't have enough internet data, you'll have to request a room on the 2nd floor or lower.

I have to give three stars only for the fact that our AC unit leaked for the weak that we stayed here, in addition to dirty sheets on multiple occasions. I accept that I am in a different country. However, I still believe there should be standards of assuming people want clean sheets. Other notes, overall, a pleasant stay in a nice location away from the party scene, great location if you want to hike to the view points of Koh Tao

Excellent price quality ratio. Nice room, nice pool, excellent service from everyone, nothing complicated with the owner, ie very easy going. Located outside of the busy street (which is good), but at a walking distance if you want to experience the night life (sunset, dinner, etc). Each room has a balcony which we appreciate!
