I spent five nights at Sirus Base Camp with my husband and our two daughters and we all absolutely loved it.Edgar and June have built two beautiful bungalows on a property right on the beach, in a quiet, village idyll and far from the tourist path. We were the first guests there and were completely speechless at the hospitality and exceptional care from the family. We were greeted with welcome drinks. We were treated to breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and dinner. Everything was incredibly tasty, cooked by my mother, and very varied. Every one of our requests was fulfilled immediately. The boys even made paper kites for our daughters and ran up and down the beach with them. There are chillout areas throughout the property. Hammocks hang under a tall tree with shade and there is even a bamboo platform on the beach where you can while away the day in pleasant shade. We don't know of such platforms from Indonesia so far, only from Thailand, and we really missed them.In the evening we sat around the campfire together and made stick bread. And the best of all: snorkeling and diving. On the volcanic island of Ruang there are two ancient lava flows that continue underwater and are covered over and over with coral gardens. We've done hundreds of dives in dozens of countries, but this beautiful coral reef completely blew us away. Directly in front of the guesthouse there is a beautiful and intact coral reef that can be snorkeled directly from the beach. We had organized the diving through Buyung and Dedi from Siau Divers, as there is no diving center on Tagulandang. Edgar and June from Sirus Base Camp can help you with the organization. Since there are no other tourists or divers on Tagulandang, you have all the dive sites all to yourself. You can travel to Tagulandang easily with the air-conditioned high-speed ferry βMajesticβ in less than 3 hours from Manado. The guys from the guesthouse will pick you up at the pier.
