Proper Indo homestay. Beautiful family run business close to the beach. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Super remote area, so don't expect a 5 star resort, any bad review left here is probably because people expected a westernised, luxury resort. For us as a couple, itwas an experience of a life time. We loved it here. The wave (miller's point) was a perfect right hander, even on the smaller days. All meals included cooked by the family. Will definitely be back. Thankyou Sindy and Marthen, we had the best time.

Really enjoyed my stay here. 3 very good meals daily, nice variety . It’s not a resort so keep expectations low and you won’t be disappointed . It’s a very basic homestay . The cook effie was great as were the other staff who spoke good english and very friendly and helpful . Will definitely return .

Nice little Homestay near to Tarimbang Beach. You have to be committed to get there as is a drive of hours over some pretty average roads but is worth it. Marthen Homestay has a range of accommodation, all single bungalows but some older with shared facilities, some older with their own bathroom and then a couple of newer with own bathroom. The rate includes 3 meals a day and the food is the highlight. Always good healthy fare and plenty of it. Staff are helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed my stay and will certainly be back.

We stayed with Marthen and his lovely family for three nights. He has different categories of rooms (from very basic to shared bathroom to more luxurious rooms) - it's about managing expectations, this is a home stay and not a 5 star hotel. Everyone was super friendly, welcoming and helpful and the food was amazing (and a lot!), even lots of options for vegetarians!We didn't surf but were lucky to also experience a ceremony in a close by village and had relaxed walks through the village and on the beach, it's a very secluded and special area and we are glad we got to experience that part of Sumba as well as the hospitality :-)

This homestay is super nice! The family is very hardworking and helpful. They speak English well.The budget bungalows are a bit rustic, the premium bungalows are top!! The price is fair.The absolute highlight was the food!!! There was a lot to choose from and plenty of it. I would give it more stars if possible.Thank you for the wonderful time!!

Bismillah. Had a stay around 2020 during a road trip from Jakarta. The hotel service was very good, our dinner was made with grilled chicken which was very delicious, we were even offered to cut the chicken ourselves because they respected our religious teachings. Masya Allah, the sea view is very beautiful, the beach with a bay and soft white sand.

We spent 2 nights at Marten's homestay, the rooms are basic but clean, Marten and his wife are very kind and welcoming, the food is excellent from breakfast to dinner.Tarimbang Bay is magnificent.I recommend this accommodation if you are in the area.

First time there but went with friend who goes every year. Accomodation and food basic but fine. Owners are real local characters. Beautiful and unspoiled people, area and surfing spot. 4 hours drive to nearest town so need to stay a week or so to make it worthwhile.

Located about 10 minutes from Tarimbang beach, this accommodation is quite interesting.This accommodation consists of 'old' building units which, if well maintained, will look good.For those who are used to star hotels, this accommodation feels very ordinary.For me personally, this accommodation is more than enough and the vibe is friendly.Managed by the owner himself and assisted by local residents, the service provided is family style.Currently Marthen House is in the process of improving itself. There is 1 new building unit that can be occupied.

we have stayed there and it is a disaster||poor hygiene||bad food||no refrigeration||bad service||management are awful||this place should be shut down or completely taken over by new owners and management and totally rebuilt

Just don't. Rooms dirty, food gone off, kitchen dirty, staff not actually there, roof leaks, no pick up as discussed, no ice to keep food fresh, no communication with owners. We will never go back there.

Visited this place while being at pantai Tarimbang. Staff was not very interested, as we could expect from previous reviews. Bungalows (shack with mattress on the floor and mosquito net) are overpriced (750k per night per person with meals)We ended up having lunch here (as there is no other place to eat in Tarimbang), and the food was good price-quality wise.The road to Tarimbang is nowadays good (may 2019) (can get there with a normal motorcycle), which allows day trip from eg. Waingapu
