It was our second time on Kri Island, but our first time staying at Yenbuba and we absolutely made the right choice. If you are booked to dive with Soul Scuba Divers it's the only place you should consider, as it's a stone's throw from the dive centre. With the morning dive boats leaving at 7.30am every day, you have just enough time to have the communal breakfast at the homestay, before heading along the beautiful new pier of Soul to dive. Here's a little breakdown of the homestay:Rooms: For 2 weeks we stayed in the VIP bungalow on the beach, which has it's own cute outdoor bathroom but no view - as it's obscured by the overwater bungalows. This was convenient for early morning toilet breaks as you have your own loo, but in all honesty we still ended up using the communal hot showers as the shower in the private bungalow is cold water. So it's not all it's cracked up to be IMO. Once we moved to the overwater bungalow at the end of the trip for 1 night, we instantly regretted not having had a water bungalow for the whole trip - so we will definitely do this next time. We didn't realize that some of the overwater bungalows also come with 2 beds. The views are waaaaaaay better on the water, and it's more peaceful. So we massively regret this. And ironically the cheaper rooms on the water are better as they are bigger and come with storage hangers for clothes. Forget VIP and book the water bungalows!Food: Always in abundance, and the food was YUMMY! Great fish or chicken for lunch and dinner, always a vegetable dish, and our faves were the bbq fish nights. They also had bread and peanut butter/nutella always on hand for a quick daytime snack which our son loved. My only recommendation (and a lot of other guests echoed this) would be to always have eggs of some sort every day for breakfast, because after a week or so of fried bananas and donuts, we started to feel super bloated and sick. Although we found out later into the trip that we could request eggs privately each day, I wish we had known this at the start. And please also more fruit. Like way more fruit! But you will definitely not go hungry and the kitchen team go out of their way to make sure people's needs are met each day.Location: AAAAA+. For diving at Soul Scuba Divers, which was the reason we were there, you are but a mere 30 seconds walk from the dive centre.Service: OUT OF THIS WORLD. Super helpful all of the time. Roky and Radix always on hand to help any guest with any query. At the end of the trip they even organized a boat to meet us in Wasai to deliver a pair of reef shoes I had forgotten at the dive centre. And we also got a free night at the end when we extended. I mean, who even does this???! We actually now can't wait to go back and stay in one of the overwater bungalows for longer. For anyone diving at Soul, this is the ONLY place you should consider staying.thank you for everything x
