This is definitely the “coolest” hotel on the island. I’m so glad I listened to my gut and booked here. The sfaff is amazing, so helpful and hardworking, the owner is lucky to have Ohm the manager who runs this place with so much care.The free breakfast you get is outstanding and served promptly with care. It feels like a hip hotel you would find in Tulum Mexico at a tenth of the price. I booked here cuz I needed a place to work at night (I’m a writer) so staying on the beach wasn’t a priority for me as aI spend all day there and it’s nice to stay in the trees at night which is only a 3 minute walk from the beach. This is definitely the spot to stay for any group size, but I can only speak for myself who travelled solo. Love this gem of a hotel.

We stayed 4 nights at the reef. The first 2 we were in a downstairs room (the cheap one), which lacked lighting, it was spacious, but it looked like a shoe box, it fulfilled its role.The next 2 nights we moved to an upstairs room and it was totally different from the previous one, a bright, spacious room with a balcony with a chair and table to sit on.In both rooms the bed and pillows were comfortable.The location is very good since it is 2 blocks from the main center. And to highlight the breakfast, extremely rich, is à la carte.Perhaps as an improvement I would add a trash can in the room, liquid soap in the hand sink and a hand towel.The hotel staff was very friendly, we would definitely return!

The hotel is located very conveniently - from it you can walk to any beach and walking street. I liked the breakfast menu and minibar, with prices similar to 7-eleven.

The Reef was recommended by the dive school I signed up with and I have no regrets staying here! This is not a luxury resort so I will share what to expect: not-terrible prices, a decently clean and safe environment to sleep in that is not on the main street, tropical island plumbing (the flush is not strong, so indeed it may be necessary to avoid even putting toilet paper in the bowl, and asking for room service daily), and the best hotel breakfasts I had for the entire trip. The rooms face a garden, so there will be visitors - I did see ants and a grasshopper near my door, and at 5am I was woken up by screaming from the group of girls staying in the room next to me. I imagine whatever they were screaming at was non-venomous and smaller than their foot. Towels were provided. Soap and shampoo dispensed in the shower area only; the sink was bare. I would say the service and the breakfast were the real highlights of the stay.

Stayed in March 2024, for 4 nights.In summary, decent place to stay, great breakfast, but in our opinion, could be more freshened up for the price.The good:- location is close to walking street but not adjacent, so quiet enough and yet easy to get to and from. However, no views or anything from the room. It’s a cute homestay-style location decorated in tropical plants everywhere.- breakfast is a-la-carte, and it is beautiful! Very delicious, filling, and aesthetic, with a tropical juice of the day. However, any extra order will cost you extra. We tried to get some extra bacon along with a dish that didn’t have bacon, and it costed 60B for two pieces, felt a bit ridiculous.To improve:- we noticed ants on the bedside headboard and asked the staff if they could help get rid of them. They were kind enough to do it immediately however we continued to have ants crawling on the bed. We understand though, island life, happens, but for the price of the room, I feel they can be more meticulous about this.- Rooms have enough space for two and sheets are clean and the room cleaning was done everyday so that was great. However, the rooms are definitely worn down and is time for refurbishment. Bathroom did not have hand towels or handwash, and the drain was quite dirty, but otherwise fairly clean.

Cute place, our room was a bit run down and the showers were cold & wifi didn’t work. I’d still recommend for the price. Everyone mentions the breakfast which I would agree was great. It wasn’t clear to me before how it works but essentially you order a breakfast meal out of the menu and there is coffee and tea available to serve yourself. If you order a drink that is extra. They are friendly but bear in mind reception is only open quite short hours but that was fine for us.

The room was very old furnished and the bathroom was full of black mold. They didn’t clean the rooms and you didn’t throw the sanitary paper into the toilet so the smell inside the room is not good… In our room we can’t close the bathroom door. The wi-fi is not working in the room, only in the lobby. The only positivity is the breakfast which was excellent and the staff is kind. I think you live anywhere else and come here to eat a very good breakfast

When we went to Ko Lipe, we hesitated for a while whether we should look for a house on the beach or stay in the middle of the island for a little less. It became The Reef Hotel and I absolutely did not regret it.We were received very kindly and taken to the room with our belongings. We stayed in a 4-person room on the ground floor. *they are currently renovating several rooms, which will be very nice. We were in a room that had not yet been refurbished*The rooms were spacious and equipped with air conditioning. 2 bathrooms which were fine. The room has definitely seen better days, but it is being renovated.The breakfast was really phenomenal. Definitely the tastiest breakfast so far in Asia (3.5 weeks in Asia so far). Delicious coffee, included with breakfast and you get a fruit shake with it, great.Minuses were the mosquitoes in the courtyard and in the rooms. They enter through the bathroom (ventilation). Something can/should be done about this. And also the outdated room...In addition to the breakfast, a plus is the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner and staff. We booked tickets with them for Ao Nang, the location where we are now. Everything was arranged perfectly, thanks for that.We would love to come back to one of the renovated rooms!

The breakfast at the café (Mojo) is superb -worthy of a stay at The Reef alone. The owner is lovely bloke and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Its also a beautiful place to work from.Clean, minimalist rooms come with good AC, a firm mattress and quality pillows. There's lots of shelves for your stuff, a couple of lamps (rare in Thailand) and charging points beside the bed. There's also a sweet internal patio with lines to dry your wet beach gear. Would definitely stay here again.*The only reason it's not a five for the rooms is because there was no hand soap, TV, and not much natural light (soundproofing could be better too). But none of these things are the end of the world and are largely subjective.*Thanks for a fantastic stay. See you again!
