A wonderful vacation, saw plenty of orangutan and monkeys. We were offered a lodge room or sleep aboard their boat, we opted for the lodge due to getting air conditioning. …

The location of the lodge, in the middle of the jungle right on the river, is great. You can sit outside your room and look into the jungle or walk along footbridges and look for plants. Unfortunately that was it. …

I’m going to start with the good things: the lodge's location is unbeatable, situated within the natural park with no other accommodation options besides the klotoks. Both our guide (Hakim) and the klotok crew were exceptional, providing excellent service and delicious food. However, the lodge appears to be abandoned. There is no cleaning or maintenance in the rooms. The sheets were stained, and the mosquito nets were broken and extremely dirty. The sink and shower were also dirty and unusable, as if they had never been cleaned. We understand we are in the jungle and do not expect luxury, but a minimum level of hygiene is necessary. We've stayed at other lodges in Africa and never encountered such conditions. Additionally, the excursion prices are nearly double compared to booking directly.Summary: DON’T go to this place. We chose this lodge to avoid sleeping on the klotok and hoped for a restful stay, but instead, we couldn't even shower and ended up feeling very uncomfortable. We should have heeded the reviews about the deplorable state of the lodge.

This is an amazing place to stay in Borneo to see orangutans. The service is wonderful and it is well worth the effort! We found it a nice change to spend time on the boat during the day, but to be able to eat most meals and sleep in an air conditioned room at the lodge at night. This was perfect for us.

Wonderful to stay in comfort and eat great food in the evenings and during breaks, with the boat trips and hikes being so accessible and well organized.

Unfortunately the other reviews are true. This lodge is the only place where you can stay in Tanjung Puting Park, unless you want to sleep on the boat. The rooms are on a structure of stilts in the middle of the jungle, with macaques jumping from one roof to another and trunk-nosed monkeys and other animals that can be seen directly from the room. It's true that for a place like this in the jungle you have to be satisfied, but for the cost the rooms are pitiful. The bed had sheets full of blood stains, and the mosquito net was half broken and did not protect against mosquitoes. In the room they provide you with an electric mosquito repellent which is of no use, if it really worked, and even if you were careful to close the door quickly, the mosquitoes entered through the drainage crack between the slats of the bathroom floor.Having read the reviews before leaving, we equipped ourselves with a sheet bag and a mosquito net to hang over the bed, as well as having sprayed all our clothes with permethrin and filled ourselves with tons of mosquito repellent, we also sprayed the entire floor of the room with permethrin. biokill insecticide and the bed. I fear that the bed was full of bed bugs, because after letting the insecticide work, it filled with dead insects. The door to the room has a two cm gap from the floor, so anything can get in, we covered the gap with the carpet at night. The room was very dirty, a lot of dust, the bars for holding the towels were very dirty. In the bathroom there was only a little soap and a little shampoo.Fortunately, our boat guide provided water for brushing teeth and drinking. We had breakfast and lunch included. For breakfast you could choose between eggs or toast with jam or peanut cream; for dinner there was a fixed menu. The quality of the dinner was poor, they served water in a bottle, but we preferred to only drink canned drinks. The bathroom is what it is, there is a sink, a toilet and a "shower", two large towels are given. In 4 nights they never changed the sheets, in fact, since they were full of stains we actually took them off, and they put them back on.The location is the only thing in its favor, being on the river in the middle of Tanjung Puting park it is a good starting position for taking the boat. The only advantage of sleeping in the lodge compared to the boat is that the room has air conditioning. The quality of the food is definitely better on the boat.

Beautiful jungle setting with comfortable air conditioned rooms and en-suite bathroom. The food was delicious local fare and all staff (ecolodge and boat) were very friendly and helpful. Free wifi near the office. Don’t expect it to be western five-star. It is a jungle experience after all, and well worth it! Boat trips spotting orangutans and other animals living free are a must. Our best trip was in canoes taking us deeper into the rainforest with a walk at the end. Our guide Rusty spoke good English and was very friendly and knowledgeable. Not so keen on the feeding stations, but you do get to see the orangutans close up - felt like being at the zoo.

We would 100% recommend Rimba! Really kind and helpfull staff, they serve local Borneo food which is delicious and there is an great vibe around the lodge. The cabin was also great considering it is in the jungle, with warm water and AirCo (big plus instead of sleeping on a boat) and electricity. A big plus is that the room stayed spider free ;)We combined the lodge with a 3 day package of a boat and guide to visit the jungle (you visit feeding spots for the oerangatans) and spot lots of animals along the way. We would recommend getting the whole package so you can enjoy the jungle of Borneo the most!
