I had a 14-hour overnight layover at Haneda so I decided to spend the night downtown. I picked this place because it was ~$20 for a night at time of booking. You have to check in with a tablet in front of the elevator using a skype call, thankfully available in English. If you want pajamas you can pay Y200 through a website (it's a trust system, but it's also Japan so you might as well.) The capsule hotel takes up two floors of a small office tower, one each for male and female guests. As the name and website suggest, all the capsules are lined with shelves of manga in both Japanese and English for your bedtime reading. Toilet and shower facilities are included, basic and clean with soap, shampoo and towels available. If you want to bring in food there's a small alcove with a couple of seats where you can eat/drink. Those were taken when I checked in fairly late at night but there was also a chair by the window at the end of the 'hallway'.If I have to nitpick one thing it's the provided safe. It's an AmazonBasics safe with 0000 as the default code. I know this because I accidentally locked my wallet inside without setting a code, I googled "default hotel safe code" and got the number, while my semi-panicked e-mail to hotel staff was responded to with the literal manual for an AmazonBasics safe.Other than that though I can say I came out satisfied with the few hours that I stayed there, and I wouldn't mind checking in there again if I visited Japan for a longer period of time.

Check-in is on the 5th floor. Use a tablet to talk to foreigners in Japanese and write documents. Be sure to take photos of dark place numbers. It's a capsule hotel, so it's quite small. There were so many foreign tourists that there was no place to open their suitcases, so they had no choice but to block the passage. The ladder at the top is too scary...The ladder in a semi-private room in a certain hotel in Hiroshima was vertical, but it wasn't that scary yet, but here you really feel like you're going to fall, so you should seriously avoid going on the top ladder. The cleaning inside the private room is not good. There was hair on the shelves and a lot of dust on the safe. The quality of the futon and pillows was good, and the sheets were clean.Personally, I didn't like the manga shelves in the rooms other than the private rooms, which were falling apart, the shower hooks that were rusty and falling off, and the moggy walls and ceilings. There are too few comics, and the concept is a bit weak. There were a few English versions of the manga. But for women, there aren't any boys' manga, so it's a shame. Also, the ceiling is too low, so I can't change my posture when reading manga. I didn't have any manga that I wanted to read anyway, so I was planning on staying until the last minute to check out, but I ended up leaving early.I stayed for 2 nights. There were sounds of coughing, hair dryers, doors, and curtains opening and closing, but luckily there were no snoring sounds and the night was quiet. This time I chose it because of its good location and low price, so I guess that's it.

I read in advance that the reception was a little unusual (you had to talk to a foreigner remotely), so I think I was able to check in fairly smoothly. If you go there without knowing anything, you might be confused. Our room was on the second floor, but it was quite difficult to climb up the ladder after walking a lot.I checked in late at night, but there were no restaurants nearby where I could eat, so I bought some food at a convenience store, but it wasn't a comfortable atmosphere to eat inside, so I ate it outside on the terrace. It's a good idea to finish your meals beforehand.I thought the shower room was clean, but the shower rack? was broken.Be careful when opening and closing the door as it will make a loud noise if you are not careful. It can be quite noisy if the room is near the entrance/exit.There are separate floors for men and women, which was a very nice point.

Foreigner friendly.Comfy. As long as you are not over 6’7 (feet/inches) or something. Most manga is in Japanese. They have all you need to clean and stay alive.Never found the “common food area” or whatever.Too bad the girls floor probably has different manga, can’t go there as a dude (loses a star for me)Great place for short term though would recommend.

I'm giving it 2 points based on the concept alone, but it's possible that the type of person who often comes alone can meet a colleague... This may seem like a very positive idea, but from my subjective perspective after having been there, it is not good in many ways as the powder falling from the exposed concrete falls into the bedroom. Next, if it was a cartoon concept, dining, etc. should have been removed separately to create a space where people could talk or read comics, but since there was no such space in the first place, it could only be used for display purposes. The trend these days is to create unfavorable spaces for men and women, but I wonder if it's going too far and blocking communication with others. If this is the case, I wonder if they should have used a concept other than a manga cafe. The photo shows the 4th floor women's floor, the 5th floor men's floor, and the structure is divided into two shower rooms, two toilets, and a room other than a powder room. There is no other space.

First of all, check-in is done via video call via iPad, and the operation starts from the customer's side, which is a pain.It seems like they outsource it to the Philippines or somewhere, and I feel stressed by the poor Japanese pronunciation and the low quality of the video calls. There is no lounge in the common space either, just a few seats that look like window seats in a small coffee shop, and one or two metal chairs in the corner of the room, and there are no comfortable sofas so you can read manga without worrying. Actually, there is no such atmosphere. There is something wrong with reading in your own room. The facility itself has created a stylish space by combining a bookshelf and a capsule hotel! However, the quality of the rooms was generally inferior to that of a typical capsule hotel, and when I was assigned to the 2nd floor, the space was small, making it difficult to climb up a ladder, and it was hot.It was not the middle of summer, so I was saved (JPY 3,580 on Friday, June 14th), but it is better to avoid it in the summer. The only thing I can praise is the mattress, it felt like they put in some good stuff. In summary, wouldn't it be fun to create a capsule hotel with lots of manga? If you put a good mattress in your room, you'll be satisfied! After that, you can make a profit by cramming the rooms into a small tenant, making the towels smaller, and outsourcing the staff to a foreign country! That's what it feels like.Check-in is from 4 p.m. and check-out is from 11 a.m., so if you're staying on the first floor in a bunk bed in the spring and fall, we recommend a schedule where you can read as much manga as you want during that time.
