Overall, a wonderful hotel. But you start to think a little, remembering that you paid $600 per night...A hotel of incredible beauty. Great library. The design is great. There are all sorts of nuts, cookies, herbal tea, jars of juice. There is water in the room, if there is not enough water, you can additionally fill it in the cooler on the -1st floor. But for some reason, none of the staff could answer my question: “where can I fill more water?” I came across the cooler by accident. It's cool that there is a cinema. This made me happy. But there is no storage space in the room. This was upsetting. Well, really, huge numbers. Place at least one cabinet besides the chest of drawers with books. There are enough books. But you want to put your shorts somewhere, and other things that you take with you, in addition to those that you hang on the hanger. The prices in the souvenir shop are the highest I have seen in Japan in general for similar products. The room is not bad, but apart from the drawer it lacks comfort. I was scared even to be in such an empty room. At least hang a picture on the wall. The costumes are even more attractive.Very tasty cuisine in the hotel. The staff is beyond praise. Especially the girl who talked about local products - just a star, and the man who translated - with incredible charisma. I also really liked the girl with excellent English who was at the reception and in the restaurant in the morning - she was delighted with her manners and friendliness. And in general, the rest of the staff is beyond praise. And special praise to the chef and sous-chef, who rethought the traditionalcuisine from the times of the Shogunate in a new way.Speaking of accompanying drinks. The price is inadequate. 8800 per person for sake accompaniment simply cannot be.The baths are great. True, I would like to make the process of getting water in the bathroom on the balcony more understandable. In other hotels you can simply do this yourself. Here you need to ask the staff before 10 pm.By the way, about this. Sorry, but a hotel that offers rooms for $600/night simply MUST have night staff. What if the guest gets sick? What if someone gets injured in the bath? You never know. Maybe someone's bed linen will be stained and will need to be changed urgently.A key with a wooden keychain, by the way, is very inconvenient. Give out cards, please.Loungewear is great, but the sizes are not for Europeans. I barely fit into M’s pants, and I’m 180cm/90kg. And it costs as much as an airplane wing if you want to buy one for yourself. Just a huge price for a set.No transfer. We almost went crazy to walk from Gora station, because... We didn’t have time to catch the chain road train... transfer, even by golf cart, is absolutely necessary! In general, I give the hotel 5, but with a large advance in the context of the price.

Amazing mid-tier onsen stay. Super comfortable, loved the modern touches, amazing food and friendly staff, delicious food and well-run kitchen. Super comfortable and a nice mix of the traditional and the modern. Loved my comfy room with the outdoor sauna and shower. Would absolutely stay again.Especially nice touches: ample working and reading nooks everywhere, bookshelf-hidden reading corners, a theater, public sauna, and floor sofa nooks.

I spent an incredible night in this hotel. I recommend it. The atmosphere of the hotel transports you and fills you with peace. The environments are very cozy, full of books and spaces to read them. The room I stayed in was spacious, comfortable, with a huge balcony and an outdoor bathtub. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. The food was also excellent. They welcomed us with Japanese sweets. Later, dinner was multi-course and related to the history of Japan. Breakfast was traditional Japanese. Everything is top-notch and delicious. If you visit Hakone, I recommend this hotel.

The hotel is spectacular. From the decoration, the details, the food and the attention of the staff. Throughout the hotel, there are many books and spaces to enjoy them. The room that my partner and I shared was very spacious, full of amenities, books too, and with an incredible bathtub on the balcony. We enjoyed a multi-course dinner, related to the history of Japan, which was spectacular. Breakfast is traditional Japanese, a luxury too. Staying at this hotel is a highly recommended and unique experience.

This is a hotel I've been interested in for a while. I went there because my family just had a day off.The lobby is surprisingly small, with a bookshelf and reading space at the back. The interior is also decorated with Y chairs and Eames, making it Instagrammable. The most important books are Haruki Murakami, cooking, and art. I wanted a little more breadth and depth (maybe it's just a matter of taste). The room was small... However, the bed was super comfortable. The water in the bath was smooth and didn't get cold. The meals are creative Italian cuisine made with local vegetables. I was very, very satisfied.Although it is called a bookcase, the collection of books is thin...One minus star due to the smallness of the room. The bath and food were very good.I visited again for dinner. What! The chef has changed, and all meals are taken to the counter kitchen. The chef explains each dish through a microphone, and several staff members, who act like assistants, go around each seat to provide commentary. However, the soup tasted like gastric juice (sorry for the bad expression), and the sashimi-like food had cold parts and warm parts, which was quite unpleasant. The food itself isn't delicious, so even if it's explained out loud, I don't get interested and it's just noise. Before you perform like that, let's train and make more delicious food.Where is the previous chef? I think they should bring him back, it's really a shame. The bathroom was leaking and the hair dryer couldn't be used. Given this price range, I thought I would stay at another hotel next time.Anyway, let's do something about the chef who is bad at cooking and the book collection that lacks depth.

I stayed there during an event called Children's Book Box. I love books and this is my dream place. There were many events that children enjoyed, such as summer festivals and storytelling, so the whole family had a great time. There were bookshelves and reading spaces not only in the rooms and lounges but also throughout the building, making it a very happy space to lose track of time and enjoy reading. The food was very delicious, and since the dinner was during a festival, we were served food with motifs from the Edo period and modern street food, and we enjoyed the staff's detailed explanations.I was very satisfied because I was able to enjoy the hot springs without worrying about time, including the open-air bath attached to my room and the large communal bath. I want to go again! !

I love books, so I went there because I was drawn to the concept of a bookstore where you can stay overnight. The result was better than I expected. There aren't that many books, but I felt like they had relatively new works as well, so I enjoyed them. All the dishes were delicious. The room was clean and I was able to relax.Since it was summer, there were some insects, but I guess it can't be helped since it's in nature.I was traveling alone, but there was one other person so I was relieved. All the staff greeted us with smiles and left a good impression. One thing that bothered me was that even though it was summer, the futon was quite thick, so it was difficult to sleep.Overall it was very good and I would like to go again.thank you very much.

Hotel was truly a small gem in the middle of Gora. A very relaxing place for book and food lover looking for onsen. The hotel is very well decorated, a good mix between modernism and traditional (as per the food by the way) . The bookshelf is amazing with several hideouts and books it's the dream to spend a few hours reading books with a tea , juice , ice cream or cakes (complimentary). The food is amazing, 3 nights 3 different menus each if them was 😍. The chef took you through the tokaido line with a full background story. Of note breakfast is Japanese (including tofu, soup, fish and chicken) so it can be a bit surprising for westerners.Location is nice close to ropeway and cablecar to reach Aishi lake through the summit. (Roughly 45 minutes)We had the private onsen on the terrace which is super nice with view on the mountain 🏔️ but on top of that the public onsen is very nice too, slightly colder than in other Japanese spot. Finally a very special thanks to the amazing staff that was very welcoming and friendly. A special word for the Chef Aoi Nakano that was here the 3 nights and makes pasta as good as Italian chef, Hina and sorry we did not get her name the smiling Girl with the blue headband that were very helpful. The other staff was real great too.
