I went on a day trip to the hot springs on the last day of a three-day weekend. The exterior looks old, but the inside was clean and comfortable. The hot springs were reserved for private use, and the changing rooms were very clean. The price was 1,100 yen, which included tea and steamed buns after bathing, so I was very satisfied.

Little bit off of the beaten path if you are traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto but well worth it. For what we got the price was more than fair. It was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.

I took my toddler with me.In the case of infants, we were told that only a two-room Japanese-Western room could be accommodated, so we asked. It was 66,000 yen including morning and evening (infant fee is 3000 yen separately). The room had a hot spring bath made of cypress, so I was able to have my first hot spring experience without any hesitation!I was grateful for their hospitality, as they prepared mats for infants in advance when I consulted with them in advance. The public bath was not large at all, with an indoor bath and an open-air bathtub, and could comfortably accommodate 1 to 2 adults, but since there were not many people staying overnight, there was no need to wash potatoes. I don't think so.You can enter the public bath at any time late at night during your stay, but it can be a bit scary as the lights are dimmed late at night. The rice was very delicious. In addition to the famous stewed amago and red sea bream, each dish was fun and ingenious, and it was amazing! The conger conger soup was fluffy and delicious. It's fun to cook rice on the table or pour hot water over bamboo to make steamed shabu. It wasn't a huge amount, and the portions were well-controlled, so I didn't feel hungry or tired if I ate all the leftovers, so it was a really fulfilling meal.I am really grateful to the maid for being so kind and cheerful.Although it's expensive, the rooms are clean and tasteful, and overall it's wonderful. However, there was one thing that bothered me about the room.

It was a small inn, the customer service was good, and the food was delicious. It would be even better if the bath had a sauna or a hot spring.

We had a wonderful stay at Akari et Kaori in spring of 2024. Everything from service, room appliances, toiletries, dinner, breakfast everything was of a very high standard. Every staff we met was highly polite, friendly and helpful. All meals we had was of extremely high quality and delicious. We would like to thank you especially to Aoyama-san who explain to us every dish carefully, even with the language barrier and he was very helpful to us during our entire stay. The hotel is in a very good location in the town, walking nearby to beautiful streets and landmarks of Shuzenji. The hotel let us borrow beautiful yukata to wear to outside. Many little details show that the owners and staff put a lot of care into this wonderful hotel. The only sad thing is the shared onsen baths are quite small. Someone who enjoys many and large baths may not like it. But this doesn't affect the overall positive experience of the ryokan for me.Thank you to everyone at Akari et Kaori. I would love to stay here again if I have the chance 💛💗
