Akihiro Minoura and his wife run the ryokan with dedication and love. Their explanations and information (in English) also help "Japan beginners" to use the onsen correctly and to fully enjoy the many courses at dinner and breakfast - both regional, prepared by the Minoura couple and a fantastic visual and taste experience. There are 6 private onsens for each of the 6 rooms, 2 of which are rotemburos. In the middle of nature.Unwind and immerse yourself in a wonderful piece of Japanese culture.

I used it.On the way there, I was a little worried as I wondered if there was such a nice inn, but I was able to get there without getting lost thanks to the directions. The number of rooms and baths is the same! ?2 large baths, 2 small baths, 2 open-air bathsAll the baths are beautiful, the greenery from the large bath is beautiful, and it's very spacious and wonderful. There are open-air baths with and without a roof, so you can relax and feel the nature in the open-air bath. It's great because you can have a relaxing and luxurious bath all to yourself. The room was spacious and the futon was soft and comfortable. The rice crackers placed in the room were also delicious, and although they are not sold at the hotel, they were so simple and delicious that you would want to take them as souvenirs. There is also a sofa in the room so you can relax. In addition to the rooms, there is a common space with books and a space where you can relax. All the food was homemade and all delicious. You can tell that they put a lot of heart into making it.The roast beef was also thick and delicious enough to make you want a second helping. At dinner we chose breakfast for the next day.The breakfast was Japanese style and very delicious.Homemade plum wine is also delicious.Attentiveness, service, the staff are very kind, the food is delicious, and the baths are great.Your mind and body will be healed. We recommend arriving early and taking a relaxing bath.Although it's quite far away and I can't go there often, it's an inn where you can spend a relaxing time with your family and friends, and the people you go with will feel relaxed and satisfied.

The view of the mountains and blue sky from the room is spectacular. There are two open-air baths, and the one in the back has no roof, just a partial wall. There is a clean changing room next door, so you won't have to worry about it. This is an open-air bath! You can soak in the hot water while looking at the sky at this location. There seem to be more insects at night, so we went in the evening right after we arrived. The bath in the building can be reserved for private use, and you can see the forest from the large windows. I saw a large spotted grouse-like bird walking by, but I wonder if it's around here too?And the best part was the food. The dishes are made with seasonal ingredients and are seasoned with gentle flavors. It's strange that it doesn't put any strain on your stomach and intestines, and you can eat it in a hearty manner! If you can eat the food here every day, I'm sure you'll be healthy.I took a bath early, ate a leisurely meal, and since it was still early in the evening, I leisurely read a book in the common area. There is a collection of books that are quite captivating, and it's fun to choose one.I was worried because I heard there were a lot of insects, but I didn't encounter any inside the building. At most, there is no problem if there are only a few insects on the screen door or window. If you want to go to an open-air bath after dark, you may need to be prepared.Overall it was a great stay. I would like to thank the wonderful couple at the hostel and the female intern. I would love to visit you again.

This is a lovely ryokan with very lovely hosts who are prepared to welcome English speaking guests. The food was decadent local specialty dishes with a hand drawn description of all the items in English…so thoughtful! The onsen were fantastic! All 6 are private onsen that you can enjoy alone or as a couple. Each had a beautiful nature view. Two are outside the main hotel area and offer glimpses of the mountains. The hosts have prepared lots of instructions for their hotel and have good hiking info for the area. They were also very responsive to email in English. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

This was a hidden treasure! The owners were so kind and helpful with our trip planning. They also prepared the most delicious kaiseki dinners every night. We loved spending the day exploring the national forest and coming back to our cozy room to end the day with multiple onsens and a delicious meal. Ice covered Mountain Views in the onsen are hard to beat.

Perfectly located ryokan. Kamikochi and Takayama can both be reached within an hour by car. It is located near the Shinhotaka ropeway (unfortunately this is closed for maintenance until August) and it is located in the middle of the mountains. Beautiful surroundings. The website states that the ryokan is simple, but we found it very luxurious with the private onsens and fantastic meals. There are always enough onsens available to use (there is no shower in the room, washing can be done at the onsen). From one of the outdoor onsens there is even a view of the snow-capped mountain peaks! The ryokan is spotless and has the cozy vibe of a mountain chalet. We had booked a three-day stay with breakfast + dinner and every morning and evening we were served a very extensive meal with many different dishes. All incredibly delicious! Nice to be able to taste so many local specialties. The room is fully equipped: TV with Netflix, kettle, hairdryer, air conditioning, Japanese toilet, etc.The hosts are very hospitable and ensure that you lack nothing. They speak good English. It is clear that they enjoy making your stay as pleasant as possible. We enjoyed it!
