The staff were lovely and very helpful and the food was amazing! They were very accomodating of my gluten free diet. Magome is a lovely town to stay in. Jeng also helped with planning our activities and bus tickets (much more helpful than the tourist info service). Recommended.

A highlight experience from our recent trip to Japan in late Sept 2024. Our room was cosy and comfortable. There was fun and friendly interaction with other travellers in the shared lounge with guitars. The food was sensational. Service was warm and professional. Magome juku was picturesque and interesting to explore - glad we stayed 2 nights instead of 1 to walk the trail and potter around outside of that. Would love to visit again.

Excellent location in the middle of Magome. This is a lovely, simple guesthouse - clean, with friendly staff.Booking.com didn’t seem to let us book the dinner & breakfast option, and not much is open in Magome outside of 9am-4pm so we were grateful the guesthouse contacted us to check on this. The meals were served in the restaurant directly across from the guesthouse and were delicious. They allowed for vegetarian options.

We arrive in the morning (1pm), but we are told that we cannot check in before 3pm. Ok, common custom in Japan, so we dedicate ourselves to the day's activities. We return at 5pm, get in line and manage to check in at 5.40pm (infinitely slow, but that's it, we're in a hostel). We were told that in twenty minutes we should be ready for dinner, which would be at the table at 6pm. We try to take a shower, but the bathroom (shared, 4 showers) was occupied and locked by a very rude other guest . Unfortunately, the girl at check-in, upon our request, not only did not intervene but agreed with the other guest "Chill". Maybe I would first learn what hospitality and sharing meana hostel. Avoid it.

Perfect location and great friendliness of the staff. In addition, one of the girls at the reception who spoke English very well, helped us with the direct bus to Tokyo. In our case we stayed in a shared room, which has bunk beds separated by curtains. It wasn't bad, but the mattress was very thin and not very comfortable. However, for one night we spent it was enough.
