Everything is 5 stars.Some of our staff members are from other countries.Is the employee training properly done?(^^)The best staff ☺️The other staff are also great ✨The room looks nice tooThe location of the tourist spot is also the best 😆If possible, I would be happy if there was a TV.If there is a next time, I will definitely repeat it ✨

The hotel is in a great location, but is a little ‘style over substance’. By Zen - think incredibly hard mattresses, minimal hanging / storage space, and a sink in the main room rather than the bathroom (?). We could also hear fellow travellers in the next room. The main seating area (where the free sake and beer is served) is a bit like your old school canteen area….little atmosphere and somewhat institutional.

Pros: This is a great hotel, with great rooms, customer service, amenities, and location. The staff at the front desk was incredibly kind and informative. I loved the free drinks session offered in the lounge too - great fresh draft beer and list of sakes! 🍶 Their mattresses are really comfortable, and the interior design is overall well thought out with nice ambient lights. There are a lot of Western tourists, and I found it relatively English-friendly compared to other Japanese hotels.Cons: However, I must say I was shockingly disappointed with the state of their public bath. I travel frequently around Japan, and specifically always book for hotels with public baths so I can relax at the end of the day. Given the great reviews of Hotel Wood I really looked forward to it. Upon entering the spa, I was shocked at the amount of dirt, hair, and skin flakes that were floating everywhere on the surface of the water of the bath 🤢 I was so grossed out that I pulled my feet out as soon as possible and rinsed it immediately in the shower. I also tried to drain out the bath water myself using the bucket that was there for about 10 minutes... but it still looked more or less the same unfortunately. I am usually not that picky with hygiene but even for me, I could not bring myself to possibly use this bath.This is a stark contrast to the rest of the hotel which I would otherwise rate 10/10. Please please please inform the tourists using the spa to wash themselves *properly* before entering the public spa, and ideally have someone regularly check up on the state of the spa as it really does not have to be this way.

The hotel is beautiful, super comfortable and very well located. It is on the street parallel to Takayama's main street. When you arrive and when they clean the room, they leave instant coffee, tea and a bottle of water, I thought it was really cool, it's not something you usually have.In the evening there is HH with unlimited tasting of sake, beer and water. There is also a SPA, with warm water for you to relax after a day of walking, I thought that was really cool. The room was beautiful and extremely comfortable, much larger than all the other hotels I stayed in.

Located right next to the old townscape, it is a very accessible place for sightseeing. It's about a 15 minute walk from the station, but it's an easy road with no hills, so it wasn't a problem.There was a Family Mart near the hotel which was convenient.Check-in at 3:00 pm for a plan that includes breakfast.From 17:00 to 23:00, you can enjoy all-you-can-drink beer and sake in the lobby.There are 7 types of sake available, and since you can bring your own food, we bought some snacks at a convenience store and enjoyed them.Most of them were from other countries, and they all spent their time in the same way.There were books and puzzles in the corner, and the puzzles in particular were very interesting.The room had a shower only and a large bath.The large public bath had 3 seats for washing and the size of the bath was reasonable. It was lit up, but the problem was that dirt and hair were floating in it, and since it was just filled with boiling water, it looked dirty. You can also get ice cream for free after taking a bath. It would have been perfect if there was a sauna and a cold bath.Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, with refills of rice and miso soup. There were many types of drinks, and I was very satisfied.Overall, I thought it was an inn where you can enjoy all-you-can-drink alcohol.

I stayed there as a couple.The atmosphere is really good. The guest rooms were calm, and there was a free space next to the front desk where you could relax and sample sake.It's close to sightseeing spots, so it's nice to be able to go to the morning market. If you come by train, it's a little far from the station. It's not a walkable distance.This is a good hotel for those who want to relax in a hotel.Unfortunately, everyone was relaxing in the free space, but the foreigners were eating cup ramen and sweets spread out in the convenience store, so I was a little disappointed with the smell and the nuisance.Also, the breakfast could be a little better. It was like a catered lunch box.
