The traditional Riokan Onsen experience was awesome in this place. The rooms are newly renovated, we had a private onsen with mountain view., the food was amazing and the service was great. It’s was a bit pricey but was worth the experience.

Beautiful shinkan with stunning views of the tonosawa mountains. We booked the room with private baths and food included. The check in time is quite late, so I would recommend arriving earlier and dropping off your luggage first if you want to explore more of the hakone area. Staff are super friendly, and although their English is a bit limited, everything is labelled really well. The room itself was amazing and we had a lovely stay. The hot spring bath on the balcony was perfect and definitely the highlight of our trip. The futon was comfortable and you got a lot of space. At night, you can turn on floor lights so you can see where you’re going. The other highlight was dinner and breakfast. Dinner included a lovely selection of small bites and sashimi. We also had shabu shabu and a local red snapper fish. Breakfast was buffet style with a huge selection as well. For drinks, you can order with dinner and breakfast, but they also have a free machine in the reception. There’s also two vending machines.Overall, the stay was perfect. Would highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed at Ichinoyu Shinkan for one night. We very much enjoyed the private onsen and the extensive breakfast buffet. However, the dinner was disappointing and the room itself was quite spartan. Be warned that the location is at the top of a very steep hill, so it is challenging to access with heavy luggage.

This ryokan in Tonosawa Hakone is fantastic! Tonosawa is a beautiful little village, 5 minutes by taxi from the Yamuto station, and on the switchback train line to sights in Hakone, bus lines etc. …

Since it gets dark in Japan as early as 5.30 pm we were in for an adventure trip to find this destination. Although this place is close to the railway station it was so dark that we struggled finding this location. …

It can be a hike to get to the top where the hotel is at but the nature is worth it. Excellent food at the restaurant inside. Beds are on the floor but they were very comfortable and clean. Hot steam bath was incredible. Highly recommend and would return.

What a great little place. We spent two nights and the highlight for me was dinner service. Plenty of different small appetizers, hot pot and local fish. If you're not afraid of tasting new stuff, this was absolutely great. The breakfast buffet was not as good though, but I guess it's because they have to spend time on sausages, scrambled eggs and ketchup to cater to the English speaking crowd 😉Another big highlight is the super hot private bathtubs on the balcony. I had at least 5 dips during my 48 hours in the Hakone Valley. 👍🏻

Delightful ryokan with friendly, helpful staff especially explaining how the traditional dinner was supposed to be prepared and eaten . The private' onsen' hot bath en suite was fabulous as well as the larger one available. Rooms are spacious and futons very comfortable. I stayed here Oct 22 and was delighted to be back.
