Anyway, the building is old.It looks like it's been cleaned, but I've never seen equipment like this before! The toilets, sinks, and other small equipment are all old. It looks like it has been renovated so that only the surface looks nice. It's old when you stay there. The food was very elaborate and delicious. The shampoo and treatment in the public bath are so natural that you won't touch your hair when rinsing with hot water. It squeaks that much. This was the first time I've ever had the experience of not being able to run my hands through my hair. If you are concerned, we recommend bringing your own shampoo. All of the staff were kind and pleasant.

This was my third time using it.It's been about a year and a half since my last visit, and I've been eating less.I want another item.At night, I would be satisfied if I had a second helping of rice, but if I only had a side dish, I felt sad.In the morning, I was like, "Is this all you need?" Maybe it was for detox purposes, but all I had was a salad and rice to go with it.The inside of the hotel has new carpets so you can wear bare feet instead of wearing slippers, and it feels nice. The space is very attractive, but I was disappointed because I went there to eat vegan food.

We stopped here for a night between Kyoto and Tokyo. The staff were tremendously accommodating and kind in moving our reservation due to a typhoon that stopped all the bullet trains for a few days.I don’t know how old the inn is, but in the states I would say it has a very 1970s ashram feeling to it. Our room on the 4th floor was very spacious and it was worth splurging for the deep private tub and shower in a little greenhouse room. A bird even sang in the rooftop garden outside.Dinner and breakfast are served promptly as a set menu. They are very vegetable focused and seasonal. You can also get as much rice and miso soup as you like. The kitchen staff explained everything we were being served and told us how it came from local farms. The onsen is indoors and has a waterfall. Onsens seem to be the main reason people come to Yugawara, so give it a try.On our way out, the staff (knowing we were going to Tokyo) had prepared a folder of recommended vegan restaurants for us. How sweet! If you are looking for the ryokan experience just outside of Tokyo and don’t want to be bothered asking questions about meals or searching for options in local restaurants, definitely give it a try. It’s so different than a western hotel and you won’t forget it (especially if you treat yourself to the big private room and bath).

This "Vegan & Hot Spring & Reading Stay" plan is a vegetarian option for me since I usually eat brown rice and vegetarian food, so I searched for it during the Obon holiday after reading reviews with both pros and cons, and there was only one room available for the 8 tatami reasonable type, so I decided on it right away. Yugawara is more modest than Hakone, which is flooded with tourists, so it's more suitable for solo travelers, and I was really looking forward to my visit as I was intrigued by the concept of the inn.As a result, there are many good points, and I would like Mr. Fukasawa, the representative of this facility, to consider improving the following points. If it wasn't for this, I would have thought, "I want to keep repeating this!", but I'm extremely disappointed.① The washlet in the toilet in the room was still out of order.←This was also mentioned in a review from over half a year ago. There was a sign saying "Arrangements for repair", but will it take that long to repair? This is impossible in Japan, where subways, private railway stations, and even campsite toilets are now equipped with washlets. The toilet in front of the dining room isn't even installed in the first place.② Bathroom (female) There are three wash basins in the changing room, but the area around the faucets has turned blue-green. ←How about a place to wash your hands? Just sitting in front of it and blow drying my hair made me feel sick. The area around the washing area had been beautifully renovated, so why was this area left alone? Too bad.③ Meal content: As expected, the variety of vegetables was delicious, and the tableware and presentation were elaborate, indicating that the restaurant was originally a culinary inn. That's why it's so poor that the main dish for dinner is ``deep-fried tofu and stir-fried summer vegetables.'' It's a shame, because the enzyme brown rice was very delicious, and although the seasoning of the dish was light, it had a depth that made the best use of the ingredients, and it was wonderful, with no chemical seasonings at all. You should consider the main menu for dinner.④Although the restaurant advertises that "solo travelers are welcome," there was no consideration given to solo travelers at the dining table. ←It was the Obon holiday, so I was the only one traveling alone while there were many families around. However, at the restaurant, the table was set up so that it faced the family table. I hesitated to request that it be turned to face the wall, but it was too annoying so I decided against it. The problem is a fundamental lack of consideration.*Though the staff thoroughly cleaned every nook and cranny, the abundance of books placed throughout the building, although their tastes may vary, and the comfort of walking barefoot were highly rated as being excellent.

Anyway, I'm glad the food was delicious! Also, there were a lot of books that I found interesting.I think this is a perfect inn for vegans. If it's a cool season, it might be a good idea to take your favorite book and read it on the rooftop.

I have nothing but fantastic things to say about my stay here. I travelled with friends, one of whom is vegan so we were often hard pressed to find restaurants and areas that all of us could eat together. The food was divine and well prepared, and I was not wanting for anything during my stay. The bath was invigorating and soothing, the staff were more than friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and I will be sure to return in the future.

I'm glad the location is within walking distance from the station. The staff are also kind. The concept is good, but the facilities are old. The shower in the public bath was very weak. The mirror is scaly. The washlet in the guest room was out of order and the window faced north. It was like a training camp, with restrictions on bath time, and in the mornings and evenings, as a general rule, you couldn't go out from 10pm until 6:30am. (I think some people especially want to go for an early morning run...it's close to the sea.) The macrobiotic meal was delicious. But I guess it wasn't really a retreat...

I understand your strong belief in vegan yoga. But it's a little too strong for the average person to go... I had the impression that it was just a group of people attending seminars related to that kind of thing. I think veganism and intestinal activity are linked, but all of my meals are cold except for the rice and miso soup. My body got cold. It's hard to say that everything is rationalized and a warm inn. The quality of the hot springs is very good. Yugawara is a wonderful place that I would like to visit again.
