Had a wonderful stay!! Amazing hospitality and great location. Amy is amazing and so kind, truly made it feel like my home away from home. The bed was comfy and the room was spacious, airy, and clean. There’s a communal fridge, microwave, and lots of other little amenities for guests. Very small place; I was the only guest my first night and one of maybe 3-5 guests my other nights, which made the “communal” aspect very easy. Never had to wait for the shower or anything. A few minor inconveniences- the soundproofing is negligible, so I was woken up by other guests talking (at a normal volume) in their rooms a few times, the shower is “eco friendly” which means it runs for 15 secs at a time before shutting off, and I had wifi issues. I mentioned the wifi to Amy and she took several steps to rectify the issue. However, I feel like this is to be expected when budget traveling and the price was veryyyy fair all things considered. Overall, I had an amazing time and would gladly stay again!!

Exceptional treatment upon arrival. Amy is super friendly and even left us a gift in the room. The room is like in the movies, very Japanese. It is very close to everything, Amy gives you a map and tells you the places of interest to see. Highly recommended, if I return to Kyoto we will definitely repeat.

This place has a great location, close to everything you want to see around gion, you just have to make a little walk and you're everywhere, if you want to avoid people at any attractions, wake up early walk for a while and go back to sleep before waking up for real, is a very nice place and traditional, the owner is nice and helpful and seems that he enjoys helping guests out, they also give you fruit which is a very nice gesture, there is a time limit for check in though, take that into consideration or talk to the owner before hand, we lost a train and then the bus was late already in kyoto so when we arrived it was past those hours, but we talk to the manager and help us out since we didn't knew about the extra charge for late check in which personally have never experienced before, although I understand since they live in there and people go to rest early in this zone at least (and almost any other smaller city and town in Japan) there is a small fridge and microwave but not a kitchen, but you can go eat at a living room.
