Guesthouse Gajyun is a fantastic place to stay in Osaka! The staff are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home, the breakfasts are especially wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and showcase some awesome traditional wooden architecture, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Its central location makes exploring the city easy.

The entrance is narrow, but the rooms are spacious and there are plenty of toilets, making it easy to stay overnight. The dog is tsundere but docile.Although most of the guests were inbound tourists, it was a quiet night. Both the owner and the staff are friendly.I had a miraculous encounter as the staff members are from the same hometown and went to the same university and department as me.Breakfast is super luxurious, filling and delicious. There are many attractions nearby. This is an inn I would like to stay at again.

I had an incredible time at this hostel! Not only is the hostel itself very comfortable, clean, welcoming and located walking distance to major metro lines, the staff are kind and wonderful people! I was in Tokyo then Osaka and finally got to Kyoto and I stayed here. I slept super well and felt very at home here (which is crazy because hostels don’t typically extend this vibe!). The fresh made breakfast was delicious and always so filling. And most importantly, shoutout to shoko for helping me with my jacket! I left it on accident and she helped coordinate its delivery! Meant so much to me because that jacket has sentimental value and she acted quick to help me!! Highly recommend all around if you want to have a splendid time in Kyoto!!

Excellent central location on the East side of Kyoto. The building is old and traditional (fair warning, you will hit your head), good facilities and an amazing breakfast. We stayed in the Anne loft room, which was relatively spacious. Both of us got sick and we nursed ourselves back to health here - the close proximity to sights helped us make the most of our time. Jiro was also very sweet and cute, eventually refusing to leave our room. Owner was also very kind.Note that there are no bathhouse trips nor Friday parties as of current.
