Great hotel, huge rooms. Comfy king size bed. Did not like having to stand in line to check out when most places let you just drop keys in a box.

My husband and I visited Japan for the first time and picked the Hyatt Regency for our 4 four days in Kyoto, based on all the good reviews they had. …

We love our stay tho we only stay here for 2 days and 1 night cuz we need to go back home. The hotel is just near around everywhere, we can recommend travelers here to book as its suitable to walk for 5-10 minutes to subway. The staffs are really nice and accommodating even the food was great!!

Can't really suggest this hotel based on the cost per night for an upscale room vs. what you get for that cost.  …

Great location with many historical sites in walking distance. Breakfast was good and the staff was helpful and polite all the time. I5 would be nice if they moved the bar to the lobby from the lower level, but I would recommend for business travel and would return if I am sent to Kyoto again.

I will preface this review by saying the staff is very kind and this is not a critic of them - it is an “expectations vs reality” given this hotel is labeled as a 5-star hotel. Also we are still staying there so I will update if anything changes.Pros: rooms on the larger side for Japan with a bathtub, geisha show with a free drink some nights, kind staff, restaurant and bar on siteCons:- the rooms are not 5 star level, maybe 3 or 4 stars in terms of amenities and overall quality / luxury expected from comparison to other 5 star hotels- we were put in a room that is so far from the entrance of the hotel, there are 2 different elevators and a very long walk required. Also it directly faces construction and we were given no warning about this, only found a note on our room when we arrived with earplugs- the location is actually not great. I’ve seen much nicer hotels near downtown/ gion where all of the action is which would avoid a 15 min taxi anytime we want to go out (not easily accessible via public transit either)- there was no luggage service when we checked in, so we had to carry our bags on the aforementioned long walk- they do have a concierge that can help with dinner reservations but we were told this at check in so we didn’t know until much laterOverall, this hotel is fine. It’s not terrible but any means, but it’s not a “5 star” hotel by western standards.

The front desk decides whether to provide luggage carrying services based on race: racial discrimination, and she rolls her eyes at guests at any time, asking them to carry luggage, she sees you as very disrespectful, …

I stayed here for two nights because I was worried about getting infected on the train when my child was taking an entrance exam during the coronavirus pandemic.Desk lights and pencil sharpeners were provided, and although there were some troubles, they were not serious and my child was able to pass the exam.

I have used Japanese restaurant Higashiyama several times for family gatherings and dinner parties. The food was very delicious, the quantity was just right, and it was served slowly in a solemn atmosphere.
