This was an exceptional experience, we loved our stay. The location just 5 mins walk from the main part of Gion is perfect, and its position on the side of the river with the view of the big traditional gates is stunning. There are so many dining options nearby, and it’s only a 5 min walk to the metro, so easy to get everywhere. The apartment itself is stunning, Japanese style but very modern and well looked after. It was perfect for 2 couples, with the western style bedroom upstairs, and Japanese futon style bedroom downstairs. We used the kitchen every morning, and the living room was a great place to relax in the afternoon - especially on the air conditioning! And it has a free washer/dryer which made us very happy after travelling in the heat for a week! Note that there’s only one bathroom and toilet though. Our host, Ryosuke, was so lovely and took lots of time to tell us about the apartment and local area, then he emailed us with restaurant and tourist suggestions. Couldn't imagine a better place to stay in Kyoto - we will be back!

I went there just because it was an inn on the banks of the Shirakawa River, and it lived up to my expectations. The view of Shirakawa from the second floor window is soothing. It was very relaxing. The kitchen was perfectly equipped. Nespresso machine, Balmuda toaster oven, Twinbird microwave oven, IH cooking table. For dinner, there is also a visiting sushi restaurant. For breakfast, I bought some danish bread from nearby Boronia and some salad from a 24-hour supermarket, and had a relaxing breakfast. However, I don't have any nightwear, so I need to prepare.
