It was a great experience and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They gave great local food recommendations and everything was nicely set up and clean. Very close to bus stops, several restaurants, and sights as well. Would highly recommend

This was the most magical stay of our trip through Japan. For the price of a moderately upscale hotel room we got the friendliest, most caring service and a (renovated) historical townhouse to call our own! It's big enough to accommodate six, will fit four quite comfortably, and spoiled just the two of us with a romantic, private, beautiful stay all to ourselves!Imagine having your own washer and dryer, a full kitchen so you can enjoy your breakfast at your own pace, waking up to the gorgeous decorations, having your own private garden and a soaking tub to relax with, and of course surrounding yourself with shoji and tatami. Then plop all that down in a quiet back street at the edge of the Samurai district, patrolled by your own neighbourhood cat, and within easy walking distance to Nagamachi and Korinbo districts. Hanatsume Machiya gets you tranquillity, history, and nearby good eats all in one package.I also cannot highlight the Machiya Inns and Hotels staff enough. They were constantly available for questions, discussing billing, and for emergency support that one time I thought I locked myself out of the gate. Once you're done, they are appropriately hands off (in order to give you as much private time as you can get). That doesn't mean they don't excel when you have a request, thiugh. Just to start using off right, the gentleman who came to complete our check-in was able to recommend the most wonderful Yakiniku shack (Yakiniku Nobu) and make reservations for us before he left! This was a glorious stay. If you have a a bit of money to put into your accomodations, I can wholly recommend putting it here. It's excellent value for money..and is even more affable if you are sharing the house with friends. It's almost guaranteed that we will be back in Kanazawa and we will absolutely use Machiya Inns and Hotels again!12/10 cannot recommend it enough.
