I recently stayed at the Lamp Light Books Hotel in Sapporo. While the location is fantastic and the concept of a book-themed hotel is appealing, there is a major flaw that significantly impacted my experience.Despite being a paying guest, I was not allowed to sit and read in the main seating area of the lobby without ordering a drink. I was asked to leave the café area simply because I wasn’t purchasing a drink at that moment. This policy seems unreasonable, especially for guests who have already paid for their stay.It undermines the very concept of a book hotel, where guests should feel welcome to relax and read without additional pressure to spend more money.I hope the management considers revisiting this policy to better align with the spirit of a book lovers' hotel and to provide a more welcoming environment for their guests.

A cute, higher end hotel in a moderately busy touristy area of Sapporo. I can confidently say if you are visiting here and need somewhere comfortable, clean and chic to stay with a built in cafe, look no further. This hotel is close to some delicious restaurants and bars as well.

Very good location accessible to many restaurants, marts, mall and 24hr donki, just outside of the hotel or few mins walk. 10-15mins walking to train station and 5-min walk to airport limousine bus pickup station. Family friendly place/location.However, it would be nice to add more breakfast choices. Currently they only have 4 options of sandwiches, so if you are staying more thab 4 nights, you might need to try having breakfast outside. Although the sandwiches were all good. I personally recommend the salad sandwich and pesto sandwich.

Second time in Sapporo and staying in the same hotel. Location is near to shopping areas and you can find lots of restaurants too. Nearest station is Odori and is 10 minutes walk away. Hotel is clean and the shower area is separated. …

Overall experience was… meh. The receptionist gave us two keys to our room (we were in 609, but one of the cards was for 704), so obviously, we couldn’t get into our room with the wrong key. When I brought this up, the receptionist insisted we were trying to break into the wrong room and confidently declared that room 609 didn’t have any guests. So, I gave her my name to check again. And turns out the staff got it wrong the first time. No apology, no acknowledgment of their mistake, just silently handed me the correct key card and walked away.

I liked this hotel so much that I came back a second time and extended my second stay 😊 The staff are all friendly and helpful. I loved the cosy book cafe downstairs which was perfect for doing some work - and the cinnamon rolls are amazing. Room was really comfortable and I slept well. I will definitely come back next time I’m in Sapporo.

We stayed in the twin single bedrooms. The rooms were excellent; clean, well-lit and spacious. The bathroom was equipped with a hairdryer and adequate towels. The toilet and shower were separated which I liked a lot. The beds were comfortable and clean.I did not read the books but there are a lot of books available in the lobby with a cool lobby area. The location is convenient and good with lots of shops and convenience stores around. There is also parking nearby.I do wish the staff there were friendlier and more hospitable. Otherwise this hotel is awesome.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were small but very well-designed. The amenities were simple and high quality. The hotel is in a great location, near tons of food options and convenient for transportation. The service however, leaves much to be desired. The staff were unfriendly and inflexible.Check out is at 10am, you will need to pay if you’d like an hour’s grace. The hotel reception area completely assumes the role of a commercial cafe. It makes no sense for a hotel to not have a reception area for guests to handle admin before and after checkout. The tables and seats at the hotel lobby have placards on each table, with rules on them. These rules are strictly enforced. My elderly father was tired and resting quietly on one of the armchairs while we sorted out luggage, and we were immediately prompted to wake him.The hotel management needs to revisit their policies and staff training. As much as we enjoyed the rooms and amenities, the guest experience overall has been poor. We will not be returning to this hotel.

Until today, I can still remember how rude their staff were to me LOL. That was my first time visiting and staying in Sapporo after a long flight. Unfortunately, I checked in pretty late! Around 7pm plus! In our country we check out at 12pm so I didn’t aware about the 10am check out and the receptionists didn’t speak English with me. Would be nice if they highlighted the time and ask if I would like to have late check out ? Since I checked in so late! I don’t mind paying $10 for the service instead of them knocking my door and chase me to check out early I was pretty taken aback until today.Big turn off - The thing is the way they talked is very rude to be honestly if you don’t know English, I would suggest you to use google translate speaking or write it down on paper before approaching foreigners because really upset when you came all the way up to my room, knocked on the door but rudely tell me “check out time is 10am” that’s all one of the guy receptionist mentioned. Then I politely explained i checked in late can i extend my hour so I can pack my things and check out then he said “ OK”. After few minutes another rude young lady came up , speak rude too. I told her I’m almost done then she said: since I’m late so the price is $XXX then I was like “ okay i don’t mind paying”. ( which I’m not sure if she understood? ) the unforgettable moment was, they see me coming down, she went to the machine and make sure i pay the amount and she say nothing” she just pointed the machine with her damn hand. Even when I left, they said NOTHING LOL I was very excited about Japan - first visit btw! FXXXK waste of time and effort dragging my luggage all the way for such a service ? Hell no way anymore I honestly wont go back eventho I love their design but after looking back, I think Lamp Light Books Hotel? - MEH.
