My first time at Ginzan Onsen was a wonderful experience. The inn is in a historic building, and I was surprised at how delicious the food was, especially the rice.

I was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews, but I decided to make a reservation because everyone's experience is different. However, I was able to understand what others were saying. The townscape of Ginzan Onsen has a nice atmosphere as you can see on social media, but it is very compact. Even so, it is located outside the center of the hot spring town.I chose a Japanese-style room because I like the old atmosphere. I didn't mind because I knew it was old, and the sink and toilet were clean, probably renovated. It's so old that you can hear the sounds of people walking, and the lock on the door is like a padlock, so you can hear it rattling. The mattress is really thin. The bath was shockingly hot. It was so hot that I couldn't even bathe in the footbaths in the hot spring town, so maybe that's the temperature. Everyone was exposed to the steam without taking a bath. The problem is not that the hot spring town or buildings are old, but the attitude and pleasantness of the landlady and employees are not good. When I got out of bed in the morning, there were bugs on the sheets. I was surprised to think that this is a pest that has been asked about a lot lately! I gently wrapped it in a tissue and took it to the front desk, where I was met by someone who appeared to be the landlady. When I explained the situation, she said, "I'm sorry," and crushed it in her hand. Is that how you apologize? That's what I thought, but since he didn't say anything else, I went back to my room, still feeling suspicious. The landlady also attended to me when I checked out, but she didn't mention the matter at all and immediately asked me to confirm the price. There were a few employees around me, so I briefly told them what had happened, and they simply replied, "It's in the mountains, after all."Since it is in nature, there will be insects. But doesn't that mean there's nothing wrong with having pests in your futon? And I think the quality of the accommodation depends on how it responds when something like this happens unintentionally.I told him that I was more offended by his rotten attitude than by the bugs."I'm sorry, but what more can I do?"“I’ve been doing this for 50 years.”“Even if there were bugs, I wouldn’t tell you about it.”And I felt even worse because of all the other words that seemed to be hurting my feelings.I think there is a way to apologize if you really feel it was wrong, and being confident may not be a bad thing, but it sounded like a declaration that you have no intention of improving, and I haven't done anything wrong. I learned a lot about social studies by not being able to shut my mouth when someone lectures me.Since the proprietress feels this way, I feel that this is reflected in the training of the employees.Buildings can be beautifully rebuilt by humans, but the human heart cannot be changed easily. However, with the brand power of Ginzan Onsen, we will be able to do so. They didn't seem to care about reviews. This is a very disappointing inn since the building and the atmosphere of the hot spring town were nice.As others have said, there are many other hot spring resorts where you can feel good and have a great atmosphere, price, and hospitality.

I came here thinking it was an old Japanese inn, but unlike the outside atmosphere, the inside was very nice, having been renovated in modern times while still maintaining the old atmosphere. The baths are of the highest quality and warm, and there are separate baths for men and women, as well as two private baths that you can use as long as they are available. The room is fully equipped with a unit toilet. Nothing to say...It was such a sumptuous meal that I couldn't finish it all. The WiFi was perfect and the staff were all nice. The room had a ceiling with exposed beams, and the atmosphere was nice, but it must have been difficult because it was so high up, and there was a lot of dust on the beams...It was a little pricey, but I was more than satisfied. There was a short distance to the parking lot. Since it's old, I was concerned about the floor rumbling in the morning and at night when I was sleeping.

If you are a foreigner and know a little Japanese, I would not recommend this hotel. You won't find the Japanese service attitude you expect here. The dinner clerk was a nightmare. The knocking was brutal. The etiquette of speaking is also very unprofessional. He even gives up the Ding Ning form when talking to guests and directly speaks in the ordinary form. The only time I heard honorifics was when I was checking out and paying.
