Very pleasant stay in Zao. |I was there on the last weekend of January. The hotel is next to the Ski-Snowboard trails and next to a lift that brings you to the top of the trails.||The dinner and breakfast where super. ||It has 2 ofuros. …

Great location for skiing a lift is just outside the door. It is a little away from the centre so if you are looking for action may this place will not suit. The staff speak a little English and are willing to assist. …

I visited here for a day trip. There are both indoor and outdoor baths after the changing room. The water is 100% natural hot spring without circulation. The water is typical Zao’s acid sulfur hot spring. The facilities are clean. The bath is not spacious.

The hotel could use a facelift- it is dated and worn looking. But some really great aspects such as having two different types of onsen and being able to ski right from/to the hotel. That's kind of amazing and as such would stay here again for this reason

I took my family to this hotel yesterday. The hotel staff don't seem to like the presence of foreign tourists. If you come here as a foreign tourist, please do not make an appointment here. Bad attitude.

The hotel is old and needs renovation, but the outdoor onsen was great. The view from the hotel is great too.

First of all, it's truly a hidden gem. I don't really want to reveal it too much.Stayed during Obon. But it's not crowded. It is located halfway up the Yokokura slope, so it is far from the hot spring town of Zao Onsen. That's why we are ``surrounded by nature.''The children went outside and played by catching grasshoppers and dragonflies. If you drive another 3 to 4 minutes from here to Bopyeong-myeon, you will find a spring water intake spot called ``Juhyo Izumi'' that is well-known to locals. The water from the melting snow has soaked into the area, and even in the middle of summer, the water is cool and constantly flowing out. I washed the plastic bottle thoroughly, packed it, and drank it deliciously on the way home. The hot springs in the hotel are of course Zao Onsen and are ``flowing directly from the source''. Just the right temperature! This is possible because it is far from the ``source''.The source temperature of Zao Onsen is around 55 degrees Celsius at the lowest, so in order to use it directly as a hot spring, it must be cooled to about 10 degrees Celsius. However, since this Astoria Hotel is far from the source and is not in the "Zao Onsen Town", the temperature must drop considerably while being drawn from the source. At just the right temperature, you can fully soak in the hot spring water without adding water. The view from the open-air bath is quite spectacular, with views of the Kaminoyama city area and Ryuzan, the Zao mountain range opposite. The food is also delicious. The rice is cooked very well and the rice grains are firm and stand up properly. For dinner, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat Yamagata specialty ``Imoni''.

First time staying overnight outside of ski season! This time of year, there are many club training camps for universities, high schools, etc., but I had a very quiet time. The food was very average, but there were many local dishes that I enjoyed eating. The hot spring bath is a little small, but the water is mildly acidic and makes your skin smooth!Anyway, it was quiet and I had a great night's sleep!

He was very kind and polite. The bath was also a very nice hot spring with a milky white pH of 1.8. I will stay again.
