The hotel is a good base for exploring Kyoto. You have the option of booking activities such as a sake tasting or a tea ceremony with kimono rental for an additional charge. The rooms are clean, but the futons are a bit hard. You can request additional mats. Overall, it doesn't seem like a classic Japanese ryokan to me, but rather a normal hotel with tatami rooms, more in the direction of "mass tourism". The onsen to be booked is too small for two people. If you really want to have the traditional experience, I recommend booking other ryokans.

Nice Ryokan in the heart of Kyoto. Close to several bus routes, food streets, and sights. We stayed in the traditional rooms with the mattresses on the floor which was nice but would recommend staying multiple nights in this room if you aren’t used to sleeping on a harder surface. The Japanese breakfast option was good and there are several other meal options nearby. I recommend making bookings for meals (especially dinners) as restaurants are often full and wont seat you at short notice.

A few steps from bus and subway stops. Clean and welcoming. Very touristy. For those who want to have a more local experience I recommend other Ryokans.

We stayed 4 nights and had a very good time. The rooms are spacious and clean, there is the possibility to choose whether to sleep on a futon or a western bed. They have many services (from the private Japanese bathroom that can be booked, same-day laundry, on-call bar...) the location is good, close to many restaurants and by walking a little you can reach many sites of interestDuring our stay they had organized a sake tasting which unfortunately we were unable to participate in but which we were lucky enough to taste at the bar the following evening. It is very nice to experience the environments made available, such as the large room at the entrance where hot tea is always available to drink around the large table. the staff is super helpful and kind.

Located in the Shijo district it's not that far from the Goji district and the Fushimi Inari. The rooms have a tatami floor, but also a bathroom. In rural Japan, Ryokans don't have personal bathrooms, so Sakura helped us transition from western style rooms to Japanese style rooms. The reception staff are bilingual and combined can speak in English, Vietnamese, French, German, Tagalog and probably much more. They helped us communicate with Japanese luggage forwarding companies. Pierre and Linh logically and clearly explained how our luggage would be transported across Japan and took care of communication/logistics with Yamato transport. Salve was friendly and helpful in communicating with an Onsen we visited.I would recommend Sakura to any tourist
