Since the inn is a cultural heritage property, I was expecting an old inn with creaky floors, but it was completely different and had been renovated in a modern and stylish way, which was very nice. The paintings, flowers, and furniture displayed inside the building are wonderful✨The hot water was good, and it was quiet and I slept well.

[Owani Onsen Yamani Senyukan]The oldest ryokan in Owani OnsenRegistered tangible cultural propertyFounded in the early Meiji period. The quiet inn facing the Hirakawa River attracts many hot spring bath guests from wealthy families living nearby, including the Tsushima family in Kanagi (the birthplace of Osamu Dazai). In addition, there are records that the Chinese literature scholar Gakukai Yoda, also known as Mori Ogai's teacher, Shinpei Goto, the first president of the South Manchuria Railway, and the poet Keigetsu Omachi stayed there, and the name of the novelist Kasai Zenzo is left in the existing lodging book. It has been loved by many literary figures. You can still stay in the same rooms as before. The breakfast using local Tsugaru cuisine is delicious.A must stay for literary giants and history buffs.Recommended level: ★★★☆☆2023.08.21

The building is quaint and nice, but the owner's over-the-top customer service (I can't even call it customer service) was disgusting to say the least. This is the worst class of all the hotels I have stayed at all over the country. It was a disappointing trip to Aomori.

I had made a reservation for the Obon holiday. On the day of my stay, my car broke down and became unable to drive, so I had no choice but to call the hotel to cancel.I was so disappointed in the way they treated me that I didn't want to stay there again. In addition to answering sluggish phone calls,``I'm canceling on the day, so I'll have to pay the full amount.'' That's all I said. When I called the other inn I had planned to stay at to cancel, I was told, ``Are you okay? It must have been a tough time. Please be careful when you return home. We look forward to seeing you again.'' Thank you for your response, and the difference in clouds is resolved.I arrived home safely while talking to my husband about my disappointment and how glad I didn't have to stay the night.Of course, we understand that there will be a cancellation fee on the same day. At that time, the phone response was just about the fee, and it was too business-like...I was disappointed that I couldn't at least ask if I was okay.

When I tried to make a reservation online for a trip with an infant, I couldn't make the reservation after adding a child, so I inquired and was told that the price for infants is the same as for adults. Naturally, I had to give up my stay and I don't think I'll ever have anything to do with him again, but things like this are quite rare these days.

This is a very historical inn. We stayed in a historic room in the cultural properties building where Osamu Dazai is said to have stayed with his mother. The folding screens and furniture are wonderful items that give you a sense of history. There are instant water heaters and LED lights with stepless dimming, but they have been carefully selected to not disrupt the atmosphere of the room. The view of the river from the window was very nice. But more than that, I was impressed by how well-maintained the hotel was, and it was the first time I stayed at a ryokan where every inch of it was beautifully appointed. It was very impressive. Although I only stayed for one night, I felt a strong sense of the desire to preserve and pass on history. The only disappointing thing was that the drainage in the free-flowing bath was poor, and the washing area in the men's bath soon became flooded with water.

A hot spring inn located in Owani Onsen. It is the oldest inn in Owani Onsen, and is a historic inn that was visited by Hirofumi Ito and Osamu Dazai. …

I stayed here on the way to shin aomori and was amazed by the beautiful furnishing, detail and general atmosphere of this ryokan. We were delighted with an excellent breakfast looking out over a traditional garden, as well as a lovely clean onsen and gorgeous traditional rooms. This was easily one of the nicest stays of the trip, a hidden gem I'm excited to come experience again when I'm in the area next. Thanks again!

This ryokan was a highlight of our trip to Japan! The building is beautiful and as you step in you feel as you go back in time(in a good way ofc). The rooms are classic Japanese style which was amazing and the onsen was really nice. The owner and the staff were super nice to us and always made sure we have everything we need! Also the location is really good, a nice little town that’s not too far away from big cities(hirosaki, Aomori, Morioka) but is really quiet and the surrounding is beautiful with nice temples, mountains and a river to stroll around and enjoy. And as a bonus the people in the town aren’t used to tourists and they are so nice to foreigners which was really refreshing after being in the cities for a while. This place is perfect for a few days of relaxing from the intensity of traveling in the big cities of Japan. 100% recommend

It's a very quaint inn.Although it is an old building full of history, it has been carefully maintained and I had a comfortable stay there. We only had breakfast at the inn, but the delicious food tasted even better in the lovely hall overlooking the garden.
