I went at the end of the year. Thank you for answering questions about pickup issues, reservation changes, light-up events, etc. through a brokerage site rather than a public website. The location is a 2-minute drive or 10-minute walk from the bus stop. It is located away from the center of the hot springs and is on an uphill road, so please keep that in mind when moving around. The facilities are very large compared to the number of rooms. Basically, there is a large public bath and an open-air bath, as well as a private bath. In particular, the Tanoharu River and small waterfalls that can be seen from the open-air hot springs show their own charm. There is a small swimming pool, and you can also purchase hot spring boiled eggs to eat.Reservation competition is fierce, so I booked a 6-tatami room on the mountain side, and the view is not very good.Dinner and breakfast were good, the quality was satisfactory to everyone, and the portions were not too small or large, which was perfect. However, there is a bit of clutter in the arrangement of the dishes, so I hope this can be improved.Because it is a large place, it takes time to look around, and because it is far from the center, it is inconvenient to get around, but there are various private hot springs, small swimming pools, open-air hot springs with a view of a small waterfall and the Tanoharu River, and a variety of options. If you are considering dinner, Okunoyu may be a good choice.

Our stay at Onsen Okunoyu was absolutely the best day of our trip—I loved every minute of it! We arrived early and were able to leave our luggage and park our car at the ryokan, which made exploring stress-free. We started with a visit to the rotenburo (outdoor bath), and it was so relaxing. After lunch, we checked in and were blown away by our stunning room with a river view.In the afternoon, we ordered a bottle of sake, put on our yukata, and fully embraced the serene atmosphere. Dinner at 6:00 was incredible—every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Later, we enjoyed a soak in the hotel’s onsen, which was the perfect end to an amazing day. Falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the river was truly relaxing, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

The hot spring environment is excellent. There are flowing hot springs in the room, and there are many different types of hot spring pools in the park. Although it was raining heavily that day, the service staff were still enthusiastic and helped with parking and delivering luggage to the room. The meals are very delicious, and the kaiseki cuisine is very unique ~ The entire hotel is built next to the river. You can sit on the lounge chair in the bed to watch the mountain scenery and listen to the chirping of insects and birds. It can be said to be one of the great pleasures in life. It is recommended that people who go to Takachiho or Aso consider this place as one of their stops, take a good rest, relax and experience the enjoyment of mountain hot springs. In addition, if there are people who do not eat cows, you can inform the hotel in advance and help arrange other meals. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the accommodation, but it certainly costs a lot of money, but it is a worthwhile experience. I recommend it to travelers coming to Kurokawa~

In my opinion the best onsen for a daytime trip in Kurokawa, even though I've only visited 5, but I can already tell! The nature view is as good as Yamamizuki, but it's closer and there's more to do for a daytime visitor: Nice clothing area, indoor bath and shower area, three outdoor baths, sauna and cold bath!

The environment, rooms, and food are all good, but the service of the clerk is not very enthusiastic, and the warm greetings are not as warm as those of ordinary hot spring hotels. The price is relatively expensive.

A few days before check-in, someone will email you asking about your arrival time and dietary restrictions. When you get off the bus, someone will hold a sign to take you to the hotel. When you check in, you will be helped to reserve a return bus. It is very considerate. The food is relatively ordinary, and there are 3 points deducted.1. All the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, there was a short, fat man at the reception desk who stared at me expressionlessly when I met him in the corridor. Even if I nodded to him, he did not respond.2. The mattress is very thin. It will be very uncomfortable no matter what position you sleep in, and you will have insomnia all night.3. There were a lot of black dead leaves and broken leaves in the open-air hot spring, which was very disgusting. I only soaked for 5 minutes before entering the indoor bath.
