I consider this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in, in Japan, from a solo traveller perspective.First, you need to get over the frustration that the hotel does not open to new guests until 3pm, even to drop off luggage early. 10am to 3pm is basically cleaning time and there are no check-in staff available. The doors are locked unless you have your room key to access. So, accept that, and plan for it. Once you do check-in it is a pleasure to stay. The rooms are bigger than Tokyo's, they are clean, comfortable, well appointed, with a modern fresh feeling. And the staff are courteous, friendly and helpful - exceeding even my praise for the rooms.Location? Very close! Front of the station, take the first lane (not to be confused with the bigger street further on) on the left-hand side of the pickup area in front of the station. About 50m down the lane and you are there.A bit of current confusion...the hotel says Royal Hotel in katakana on the big vertical sign but much of the English writing just says Route Inn. This hotel is a member of the Route Inn chain. It could possibly do with ROYAL written in English.I was sorry to be leaving. Ueda, being a peaceful and clean town, adds to the attraction of the hotel. Being close to the station allows you to do day trips whenever you want.

The exterior looks old, but the interior is beautifully maintained. For breakfast, we use an affiliated restaurant that is about a 3-minute walk away. Best of all, it's close to the station and convenient.

The room is not large, but there is a desk and a chair close to the sofa, which is good for work.Close to the station, there are many restaurants around the hotel, and convenience stores are also conveniently located.

Breakfast is served at a affiliated hotel within walking distance. It's fine normally, but when the weather is bad, you should do something about it.The water pressure in the bathtub is also weak and the water doesn't accumulate in the bathtub, so it gets cold.

The building looks old in the Route Inn group, but the inside of the building is clean and the rooms are almost the same as the latest Route Inns. There's no breakfast, but it's enough to stay, so I recommend it.

Although the building and facilities are old, they were well-maintained and comfortable to use. Thank you very much. However, there are some difficulties. What caught my attention was the shower cart on the unit bus. Normally, shower curtains are hung inside the bath, but they are not long enough. It wouldn't be a problem if it was 15cm longer, but when I shower, it splatters outside and the bathmat I put under it gets wet and is worthless. It's not like I'm the second most eccentric, but it's a blue-light izakaya on the first floor. In the city center, there's no problem in distinguishing yourself among the many stores, but in local cities, it's easier to get into an izakaya if it's plain. Even though the manager is a good guy, it's a waste. As Rooting Group's first store, I would like to do my best and continue to do so for many years to come.
