I have stayed here about 4 times. The best room I've had so far is one with an open-air hot spring bath. The room is spacious and the view is great. I enjoy soaking in a warm open-air hot spring bath in the frigid cold while looking at the snow, as many times as I like.If you stay there, even the semi-open-air rooms will feel unsatisfying. That's fine, but rooms with open-air baths are the best.Milk and Yakult after taking a bath, and night noodles served in the lobby are very nice services!I feel like the quality of customer service is declining year by year, probably due to a lack of manpower. I still remember being impressed by the customer service when I first stayed there 10 years ago. There was great attention to detail. Is it inevitable that the flooring in the room is peeling because of the passage of time? I thought it was renewed.Good for couples too. Good for families with children. The couple is also good. Good for traveling alone. This is an accommodation that anyone can enjoy.I'm always satisfied because it's an inn where you can enjoy hot springs, food, and nature. I want to go again in the middle of winter.

The hot springs were too hot to take a long bath. But milk after a bath is delicious. The Hida beef was delicious, but I can't remember the other dishes. It's tough to ask if I would come back at this price. Also, I was tired because it was a horizontally long hotel.postscriptRepeat after 2 years.I made a reservation because JTB had a special price. And far away. There are still many foreign customers. Staff responsive.Unlike two years ago, after-bath drinks now include coffee milk and fruit milk, and for a limited time, you can also drink sake and draft beer.Elderly people should be careful as there are stairs on the way to the annex and the private bath. The separate room has an open-air bath. Are all guest room baths as hot as ever? You can't put it in without adding water. There's beer and juice for everyone in the fridge. The TV is larger than in a normal room and you can watch YouTube. The public bath remains the same. I entered the open-air bath looking for a place that wasn't too hot.The main dish for dinner was Hida beef, which was even more delicious than the last time I ate it.The other menu items were also of a high standard and delicious.I know that they have put some effort into the breakfast, but other than the grilled fish and the hoba miso, which was delicious like last time, I wasn't really impressed. This plan said it included a 500 yen ticket for a detour, but in the end I didn't receive the ticket until the end.Since I was able to stay at a special price, I didn't have the courage to say anything on the spot.Since I stayed at a special price, I would like to give it 5 stars, but since the reviews are not helpful, I would have given it 4 stars if I had paid the regular price.

This was one of the best hotel stays of my life. What a wonderful experience. We were there on three weekdays in September. The hotel has a philosophy in which minimalism and opulence are perfectly combined. Everything was very reserved and yet lovingly designed.Eat:Eating is an experience in itself. There are many small specialties made from regional ingredients. Each of these little things is very Japanese and very tasty. The pretty tableware is always coordinated with the dish. You can prepare some specialties yourself on site. There is a lot of fish, lots of green vegetables, pickled vegetables and fruit. Above all, there is a lot of selected Hida beef of the highest quality. You also do yakiniku and shabu shabu, a great experience for a tourist in Japan! We could choose whether we wanted to look at the beautiful landscape while eating. So the meal became a holistic experience. The negative: It's way too much food. We were two women who loved to eat, but we felt like everything could have been half the size. Unfortunately we were not offered a half portion option. So we often couldn't eat everything. It made us feel rude. We also felt bad about the environment that so much meat had to be thrown away because of us. I don't know if vegetarian options are offered.Ambience and rooms:Everything in the hotel is made of high quality materials. Wood and ceramics, high-quality cotton and paper. At the same time, everything is designed to provide maximum comfort. You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into this. Everything is very clean. The construction is based on old Hida huts. The view is of the surrounding mountains. The little special features are great: a campfire, sake testing, free, delicious beer, delicious coffee, Yakult. The spas are just great. Both the mini onsen in the room, the private spa and the public bath were beautiful and clean. There was even a really hot sauna. Perfect. The cleaning policy is very reasonable: cleaning is only done to order. No employee goes into the room without being asked, which gives you a lot of privacy. You can get your own samoe, yukata and towels as needed. Towels can also be provided upon request.Unfortunately, there is always soft music playing in the public areas, in the spa and in the Rotenburo. This adds a lot to the ambience, but after a day and a half you'll want some peace and quiet. Our room was sensational, with huge windows but very quiet and private. We could listen to nature. What I particularly liked: the beds were simply covered in white bed linen. No throw pillows, no decorative blankets. It was quiet, the sleep was wonderful.Unfortunately, I was missing a bedspread and a lantern with warm light next to the sofa for the perfect stay. Unfortunately, the television was also huge and impossible to miss. So I spread my scarf over the TV.The hotel's staff deserves special mention. The people are really nice, funny, friendly, hard-working and very unobtrusive. The friendliness doesn't feel fake like it does with people from Tokyo, which quickly unsettles us Westerners. The region is rural, beautiful in the mountains and invites you to explore a little - but be careful, there are also bears in the wilderness. There are no supermarkets nearby, but there is a konbini at the bus station.Overall, I would highly recommend the hotel! I am very grateful for this experience.

My stay at Miyama Ouan was beyond amazing. Excellent service and hospitality from the staff, they’re genuinely friendly. The room we got came with a private Onsen (as I have tattoos) there are also 2 private outdoor onsen at another wing of the property that you can go for when they’re not in use. The room charge comes with breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The food served was fresh and delicious (Hida Beef grilled and Shabu Shabu on another day) They also check with you in advance of your plans + to reserve your time for meals ahead. Oh and if you’re still hungry, there’s even compliments ramen at the lobby from 10pm.Walking around the premises felt very tranquil as it’s surrounded around greenery. There are both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms. The sliding shoji doors welcomes us to a zen view of greenery. But we’re here for one thing of course - the private Onsen. My sleep has never been better after each soak in the Onsen.
