Could not have hoped for more in a ryokan. Great food, onsen, service, and historic setting. A regenerating experience, right along the route of the Nakasendo. Highly recommend.

I stayed here in early August with my one and a half year old child, my mother, and my husband.・When I inquired about children's meals over the phone, I was told that ``Children's lunches are quite large, so it would be a waste if they were left over, so it would be better if you could share the adult's meals.'' Without making a reservation, I asked, "Can I bring my child's meals (in retort pouches)?" and they said it was okay. However, when I asked them to warm up the children's meals and lend out tableware on the day of the event, I was saddened by the reluctant and unpleasant response. Also, there is almost no food for adults to share with young children, and is white rice really enough for adult men? (Actually, my husband didn't have enough. He wasn't even asked if he wanted refills.) There was nothing to feed the children.・I was also surprised that there was no bottled water in the refrigerator in the room. Furthermore, the water in the vending machines in the hotel was sold out, there were no convenience stores in or around the hotel, and there was a sign in the cold water corner in the lobby that said, ``If you would like cold water in your room, please let us know.'' I asked for a cold pitcher twice during the two days I stayed. Then, the second time, I was asked to bring the pitcher from my room to the lobby (to replace it with a new one). This was my first time at an inn that required guests to return tableware and other items, so I was confused. I'm asking you to do this while you're busy, so that's all I have to say, but I'm being harsh, and if you don't have enough people, I think it would be a good idea to leave a plastic bottle in your room.・There was enough rice for each person for breakfast, but my mother couldn't eat all of it, so I thought that if possible, I could borrow a plastic wrap and make rice balls with just white rice, so she served it for me. I spoke to a young woman who was there. Then, an older woman suddenly came over and said, ``It's August, so we can't stuff food into the rice because we're afraid of food poisoning.Do we still need plastic wrap?'' I was surprised by his cold expression and tone of voice. There are no side dishes left on our plates and nothing to put in the rice balls. And I didn't even ask for that. If they couldn't do it, I'd understand if they refused and said, ``We don't provide that kind of service,'' so I wondered why they said it in such a disgusting way.・I was also surprised that there was only one bath towel per person. If you want to take a hot spring bath several times, you will have to dry your bath towel in your room and use it again. I was surprised because I thought it was normal for the inns and hotels I've stayed at in my life to have towels in the bathhouse that you can use as much as you like, or even extra towels for the number of people in the room. I learned that there is also a system. However, what was very sad was that there were no towels provided for the children. I didn't ask for a futon because the child was sleeping with me, but I did pay for the facility usage fee for my child. It was sad to see that children were not considered customers. Of course, there was only enough toothpaste, cups, and hand towels for three adults in the room. (I brought toothpaste, cups, small towels, etc., so there was no problem.)We also check various things on the official website and prepare them, so if there is detailed information such as bath towels (limited to 1 per person, only enough for the number of futons), you can bring extra from home. I thought.・It was a mystery to me how to have someone hand-deliver a 5% discount coupon to a local shop that is distributed to each room, even though it would be easy for both of us to leave it in the room. There were other things I was concerned about, such as the facilities, but the atmosphere of the ryokan was nice and the townscape was quaint and nice. The food was very delicious and there were several staff members with lovely smiles. However, the response of most of the staff was very disappointing, and I felt like I could replace my good memories with sad ones. I have taken my children to various inns and hotels, but this is the first time I have felt this way and received such service.I would also like to apologize for calling the lobby so many times during your busy schedule. However, if you are going to go this far, I think it would be better to refuse children of preschool age. My family will not be using this inn again in the future, and we had a lot of fun traveling in Nagano other than the inn, so I don't want to complain about the inn, but I hope it will be helpful for those who are looking for an inn when traveling with children in the future. I thought of it and wrote a review. We are disappointed that we were unable to experience the "spirit of hospitality" that we have maintained since our founding, as described on the official website. Thank you very much.

Went with friends here on holiday to hike the Nakasendo, I must say it was the highlight accommodation of our trip to Japan. Loved the mix of old and new and the place has a bit of history to it also. The Onsen was a great bonus. Exceeded my expectations and was conveniently located beside some nice local shops and izakayas.

Used for day trip bathing. It's located in the middle of town, so it's easy to get to. It's also nice that you can take a bath from 13:00 to 21:00.
