We had the pleasure of staying at Hakuba Youluri during the winter. It is a beautifully restored 150 year old Japanese house which was one of the original buildings in Iwatake located with convenient access to all of the ski resorts in the Hakuba valley. The house has everything that a family would want including a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, Netflix and a place to dry your ski equipment. We particularly enjoyed playing many of the vinyl records on the stereo! Koh and Marie are fantastic hosts and will ensure that you have a wonderful stay!

We headed to Yururi, an inn in an old folk house, located in the idyllic Iwatake Shinden area, a little away from the Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field, which is famous for the Nagano Olympics. The right half is a home, and the left half is an old folk house used for accommodation. It was a vacation rental with a whole building, so I was able to relax and enjoy it like I was at home.A couple who run web design and baking classes moved here on an I-turn, rented the inn along with the storehouse and fields in the back from locals, and renovated the inn.There is a living room with a kotatsu, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom on the first floor, and another bedroom on the second floor.The sound of melting snow running down the waterway in front of the inn and the warm sounds of jazz playing from a record create a wonderful collaboration.I had a very comfortable time with the tatami and kotatsu.
