Stayed here in Feb ‘24 for 4 nights for a solo snowboard trip. The boys picked me up from Tsugaike and later dropped me back at Hakuba station. The place was great. Very cosy with a bar on site. Proximity to Norikura is 3 min walk which then has 1 lift connection to Cortina.Only suggestion when staying here is make sure you bring your own groceries! There was no small store to buy supplies so you’d have to go back to Hakuba village when you need anything. Will stay here again!

Rarely do I leave reviews but I have to give these guys 5 stars. Really can't say enough about these guys. The lodge is spotlessly clean all the time. The staff are awesome. They really make it. They're helpful and fun.. Nothing is to much trouble and so much fun to be around. The location is just beautiful. Less then five minutes from the lift and you can literally ride back to the door. The snow has been unbelievable. Forget staying anywhere else. We really don't want to go home. Cannot wait to come back.

Amazing team, super helpful and friendly and honestly made me forget I was a solo traveller in the best way possible. Everyone there was very nice and it made for the perfect stay up in the Hakuba valley. Can't thank the crew enough and would highly recommend this place to anyone. Can't wait to come back!

Get yourself down to Butter Inn!! The owners are legends and you feel like you’re part of the family as soon as you walk in. Both dorms and private rooms are super clean and so comfy. You’ve got a schmick dry room for your smelly old snowboard boots and once you’ve dropped your boots in the dry room, head down to the bar for a game of darts and drink (or 10).Located a small drive out of town but it’s definitely worth it, as it’s in a stunning location and you can get away from the craziness of Happo but you’re just around the corner from Tsugaike.Couldn’t recommend Butter Inn high enough!! Thanks for having us fellas, we will see you next season 💛

Butter Inn is a nice, clean and modern place! All the staff were very lovely, all good vibes! Rooms were really nice with plenty of storage for personal belongings. Also the dry room worked great!Biggest let down was the shuttles that were advertised as complimentary to take us around town but for the majority of lifts we were asked to pay minimum 1000yen each way. Some costing as much as 4000yen per person.Other than that, the local ski resort is nice and close with great snow!

Probably one of the best hostels I've stayed in! The rooms are second to none, especially at the prices you pay for them! All the staff are brilliant and have managed to make a great atmosphere in the hostel! There is also a great bar in the basement which can get lively a few times a week. The bathrooms are new and always very clean with good water pressure for the showers. The location is great for the slopes (Cortina/Norikura), however there isn't much of a town nearby to look around. But the guys do offer free shuttles down to the supermarket and neighbouring resorts if you fancy somewhere else to ski that day. It is also 3 min walk to the Valley shuttle bus stop (however is a bit of a walk back uphill to the hostel). If you need anything the guys are happy to help out and make sure you get the best out of your trip! It's definitely THE place to stay in the Hakuba Valley and I would happily return!

Absolutely loved our stay at Butter Inn which was hands down the best part of our 3 week trip in Japan. We had a big group and the dorms were spacious and allowed privacy with seperate lights and curtains for when you needed time out. Also the most beautiful and cosy hang out air to watch snow flicks to pump yourself up, stretch and have a chat. Having a kitchen to cook is an absolute treat too and we found out later very rare for hostels these days.Being out of town was actually really nice as we were the first to the pow, the crew sorted us out with transfers and it was a much more authentic Japanese vibe further up the hill + an onsen within walking distance. And of course the bar was a whole bunch of fun and pizzas were delicious when a break from ramen was needed.Next time we will stay butter in our whole trip - cannot fault this place ❤️
