Stayed for two days for a trip to Mt. Shiroumasan and Nagano. This shelter, run by a very friendly couple, gave us a refreshing and comfortable experience. Thank you so much for taking me to Hakuba Station early in the morning on the day I left~~^^♡♡♡

We had a fantastic stay at Landhaus Dancru Netz. There was a bit of difficulty getting in touch with the hosts before we arrived (coming from Canada), as we are cheap and didn't want to pay for the long distance call. The website let's you submit a message, like an email, but I never got a response. For location, it's pretty good. Echoland has gear rentals and restaurants galore. That being said, it is VERY busy, so dinner reservations are strongly recommended. If you don't have a reservation, your best chance is to stand outside the restaurant before it opens (about 10-5 minutes) so you can ask for a table right away. The ski hill buses are free and they all stop along the main drag, close to Dancru. The Hakuba Valley Shuttle which goes to all ski hills is a bit further away, about a 10 min walk with gear (but downhill!).The bus system, while not as frequent as we would have liked, is really good about sending extra buses if everyone cannot get on.The hotel has everything you will need; drying room for gear, two onsens in the basement for showering and soaking, and larger common room for breakfast every morning with a wood burning fireplace. The rooms were just spacious enough for 2 adults. The rooms have radient floor heating, which was great. The hosts were supportive in assisting us with making dinner reservations; we picked the restaurant, and they messaged them to find out availability. When we left, they gave us a ride to the Happo Bus Terminal (for a nominal fee). We do not speak Japanese, so Google Translate came in very handy. We stayed here for the entire time we were in Hakuba, and would definitely stay again.

Great experience. Almost stayed at the Marriott. So glad I went here! Bring your own towel. But outside of that, a lovely group of people. It was a very authentic experience and that was what mattered! Also right on the heart of town. Could not recommend more!

The pension founded by his father has been taken over by his son and his wife.``Landhaus'' and ``Netz'' are German words for friends, and ``Dunkl'' is a word coined by his father. After the meal, we talked about various things about Hakuba, and I felt that both of them were very gentle people and loved their hometown. The host apparently trained in Mexican, French, and Italian cuisine in Tokyo, and the presentation was wonderful, and the meat dishes and soups in particular were authentic and very delicious.
