GENERALI stayed at The Champuhan Villa for 4 nights in July 2022. The drive from Padang Bai, which is where I came from, is just magical. What an incredible area! So green, so wholesome, and filled with so much beauty. First, the owners - Wayan, Komung (Wayan's wife), Ni Putu (Wayan and Komung's daughter), Komung (Wayan's brother) and Aunty - what beautiful people! They were smiling from the time I arrived until the time I left. They are just lovely, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Wayan's favourite saying is 'If you are happy, I am happy' :) My stay at The Champuhan Villa made me very happy, and their welcoming demeanour made it a very special stay. The place is incredibly well kept and the garden is so pretty, with coconut and other trees growing. Lovely to walk through on the way to the villa. The swimming pool looks out onto the rice paddies, and is cooling on the body and big enough to do a few lengths and has great views - I utilized the pool frequently and enjoyed the sound of the water flowing over the edge. There are 2 deck chairs and an umbrella, and an area where one can sit under a built out shaded area. Very comfortable, along with an outdoor shower to use if needed. Wayan prepares the area and pool each time prior to swimming. Wayan arranged for a healing massage for my back, and it was helpful for the issues I have. Had I been more adventurous, I know that Wayan would have arranged other outings/tours had I asked.I took a very pleasant walk with Wayan and Komung to the river. On the way Wayan showed me different trees - clove, cacoa, banana, coconut and papaya (there may have been more), and explained more about each and every one of them. I gained knowledge and really enjoyed getting better informed about Bali trees and vegetation growth, and about life in Bali, through the eyes of people whose lives are here.MEALSBreakfast is included in the offering - delicious fruit with fresh lime, and eggs with toast and jam. Everything was so beautifully presented, and very tasty too. Although other meals aren't offered, I asked Wayan if he could possibly provide one other meal for me per day, and he graciously agreed. I had vegetarian nasi goreng, gado gado and a lovely vegetable curry too, along with something else that I can't remember now. On leaving, Ni Putu also made me some delicious rice chips, the kind that is prevalent everywhere in Bali, so good, homemade and without preservatives. Yummy! :) I ate breakfast on the balcony each morning, with a beautiful view of the pool and garden below, and of the truly Instagram views (if you like that sort of thing, and of which there were many) of the rice paddies, mountains and spectacular clouds.BEDROOM ENSUITEI had an upstairs bedroom en-suite with balcony, and my goodness, it was lush and large and beautiful (a bit like me, really :)). Wooden decor that is simple yet glorious, with a shower and toilet that are separate from each other and wonderfully kept with glass outlines. Against the backdrop of the wood pieces in the room, it makes for a very striking and unusual layout, especially in the way it has been designed. There is another bedroom en-suite downstairs on offer, for those who do not want to use stairs.I loved my time at The Champuhan Villa, and highly recommend it for all of the reasons mentioned above, and especially for the rather magnificent people who run it - incredible hospitality, attention to detail, who really went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was superb. 100 million stars, to infinity and beyond :)Thank you Wayan, Komung, Ni Putu, Komung and Aunty. I appreciate all of you, and will never forget my experience at your wonderful place! Lots of love, Vanessa xxxxx 18th July 2022
