Super comfortable, calm and tidy guesthouse!Great old building with an amazing atmosphere.The neighborhood/village is also super sweet 🌞It was great to have such a relaxing place to escape from the tourist crowd on the island sometimes.

I’m leaving a review as I chose this place based on great reviews and my experience differed somewhat. The staff were very helpful with info before my stay and seemed nice. It is inexpensive so I had lower expectations. But when I arrived I realised it was very basic and the bed was too short for me. While the place was clean, the room smelt damp and moldy, not good for someone with respiratory issues. I chose to stay somewhere else instead.

What a great place! The location is ideal, very close to the passenger ferry terminal and the art house project as well as Ando museum. Chichu museum a 30mn stroll away through superb landscapes. The house and surroundings are beautiful and super clean. Very good amenities. Last but not least, the staff are super helpful and friendly. We simply loved it. A big arigato to everyone at Roji to Akari.

Amazing guesthouse. Traditional but SO COMFORTABLE - the beds are incredible & so cosy. The owner is lovely & very helpful!!! And great location for visits!!! They also have a kitchen which could have been handy. Cute coffee shop in front & absolutely do not miss their restaurant it’s incredible for the vibe and excellent for the food! I’ll be back!

This is my second time using this guest house, which I love. This is a wonderful guest house with a warm space that is very comfortable to spend time in. There is also a kotatsu in the living room, so you can enjoy communicating with other guests. I'm very happy to have a cat, and I would like to use them again. thank you very much!

I stayed in a private room, but since I wasn't used to staying in a guest house, I thought it was pretty tough.◇ Bad points:The staff's response is sloppy. Even though I told them my arrival time, there was no one anywhere.I didn't know where to put my heavy luggage, so I was waiting in the hallway, but someone warned me to go to the kitchen. When I went to the kitchen, a foreigner man came out of the bathroom right next to the kitchen after taking a bath, so I felt awkward. When I returned to the hallway, the staff warned me again to go to the kitchen... If you can see that I'm in trouble, why don't you work at the front desk?The private room is located next to the kitchen and right in front of the entrance. Early in the morning and late at night, all kinds of noises such as people talking, walking, snoring, washing dishes in the kitchen, etc. are extremely noisy.Your room will not be locked, so you are responsible for managing your valuables. There is also no safety deposit box.Bath towels can be rented for a fee. I also have to remove the sheets. Please stay with the assumption that there will be no service.◇Good points:The location is excellent. There are restaurants nearby that are open at night, right in front of Ie Project's Minami-dera Temple. It was also close to Naoshima Port and the bus stop.You can also use the fully automatic washer/dryer that automatically dispenses detergent for free.

Location from Honmura Port (approximately 5-6 minutes walk) and close to Minami-dera, Ando Museum, etc. If you go to Teshima Island, you have to go to Miyanoura Port, but the bus stop is also close, so you can travel efficiently if you plan well. The staff were friendly and I slept on the bunk bed, which was so soft that I was able to sleep comfortably. However, I personally had to leave my laundry outside to dry, but it suddenly rained and I had no choice but to get wet. I think it would be nice if measures were taken to prevent this kind of sudden rain.

The best location if you want to look around Mr. Ando’s works.The host is very friendly and the atmosphere is very nice with the feel of a traditional Japanese house. However, in winter, you can turn on the heater as much as you want, but dryness is inevitable. I recommend it and will stop by again if I visit again.

A comfortable and well-maintained old folk house guest house.The women's room we stayed in had two sets of bunk beds, and there was a light and outlet on each bedside, so charging was not an issue.The kitchen in the common space is fully stocked with tableware and cooking utensils. There is a co-op nearby, but it closes early, so be careful when procuring ingredients.There are not many restaurants open in the evening, so it is best to make a reservation at an affiliated old folk house cafe when you check in.

An old folk guest house with a cat. Although it is a very old building, it was well kept and had a clean and comfortable stay. The common spaces include a kitchen, a common room with a cat named Jubee, a sofa in the hallway facing the garden, three shower rooms, two toilets, and more than enough facilities for a small guesthouse. The bedrooms were divided into a mixed dormitory, a female dormitory, and a private room, and the futons were fluffy and comfortable. Meals are not provided, but there is a cafe run by the owner a few minutes walk away, so we recommend it.

Thank you for staying with me for just one night.I've recently become addicted to guesthouses in old folk houses, so I stayed here.The atmosphere is ◎, the staff's service is very homey, the sleeping area is ◎, and there is a kotatsu, so you can relax during the cold season. It was a comfortable stay.The cat Jubei is a little overweight and tsundere, but he is soothing.I would like to visit again when I come to Naoshima.

Super clean guest house with many updated features (new dryers and bathrooms/shower areas) with an artsy and modern decor yet traditional Japanese house features like an engawa. We stated in the single room and it was comfortable and clean! The staff was very friendly and helpful! It was a Japanese holiday when we stayed, the staff made sure to help us get a reservation at a restaurant for dinner since they book out quickly. Also theres a cute and friendly cat, always a nice bonus :) We were allowed to keep our bags there after check out as well. Its on the honmura side so i recommend taking the ferry there, but we used the main port and it was fine. The buses are quite frequent for a small island and a bus stop is about 5 minutes away. If I come back to Naoshima, I'll definitely stay here again!

Great hostel! Spotless clean. Very comfortable beds. Really cozy environment and very well located in the island of Naoshima. They have a café around 300 meters away from the hostel. The menu is awesome and prices very reasonable.
