Very pleasant stay at Minshuku Wakatake. Ample space for 3 persons in a room. Sleep in traditional bed (futon). Aircon is functioning well.There's safety box, TV, 2 power sockets, small separate area to window with chair, wash basin, hairdryer, yukata, various amenities etc.Breakfast was superb and pleasant experience. We had traditional Japanese breakfast with different types of veggies, hijiki, umeboshi, raw egg, natto, tofu, soup, rice and the main dish (maguro)

Booked this Guesthouse via official Kumano Travel website and I was amazed with the hospitality. The room is Japanese tatami style, very clean, provided with TV (+DVD player), futon bed, pillow, towel, toothbrush, and also yukata for sleeping. The reception can speak English a bit and really helpful. They also helped me to warming up my instant rament (bought from supermarket) as I can't find microwave here.It also have indoor onsen inside the guesthouse. It's a small one but good enough to have a rest after long-distance walk.In 2nd floor, there are a great collection of Japanese manga and DVD. As a fan of "One Piece" manga, saw the complete collection from volume 1 to latest volume made me so joyful fanboying. You can pick-up DVD and play it in your room (it has DVD player)It's one of the best Guesthouse experience during my Kumano Sanzan pilgrimage.

We loved our stay. The hosts are delightful and offer numerous amenities. Our Japanese style room was comfortable and spacious. The onsen is clean and relaxing. The wifi was very good. The best is the food; tasty and delightful. Highly recommend.

Located right next to the train station, it was the most comfortable minshuku that we stayed in Wakayama. We also loved the private enclosed balcony attached to the room.The meals were exquisite - Kii Katsura being the tuna industry centre in the area, we had different cuts of tuna served in so many various ways, it was truly a culinary experience.

Convenient stay with everything you could need to continue on your journey.The location is perfectly next to the train station, yet we didn’t hear much noise. The room was surprisingly large and airy. The facilities were clean and staff were helpful.

Good minshuku with amazing food and welcoming staff. We had a feast for dinner including hon maguro (bluefin tuna) and sukiyaki. The rooms are simple (with shared facilities) but clean and with everything you need available.

Great value, wonderful hosts, good location, and amazing food! Wakatake is in a great location next to the train station (but don't worry there are not trains running late at night), though views are not worthy of note. Super friendly couple who owns the hotel and cafe underneath--they were wonderful to work with and accommodating. I also like the room I received--the futon was very comfortable, the a/c worked great, and the common area drinks and fridge were perfect. I absolutely LOVED the very hot onsen as well after a long day of hiking (and for the previous rater who noted the tub was dirty, I assure you it is not--it is red because of the high iron and sulfur content of the REAL hot springs water that fills the onsen--but the shower area and the tub were very clean). My favorite thing though was the meal that I ordered the 2nd night at the hotel... wow, what a feast, and the husband provided great sake recommendations to accompany the meal.Although I attribute the off smell in the common bathroom to the high sulfuric content in the water, the bathroom didn't smell great. Seriously though, that is all I can say I didn't like!

March 13th: Elderly coupleWe stayed here during a train trip around the Kii Peninsula. For dinner, we had a hearty sashimi platter, Kumano beef sukiyaki, grilled tuna fish, and whale delicacies, all of which we couldn't finish.Thank you for the meal. The room was clean and everyone was attentive, and I was very satisfied with the accommodation during my trip. Thank you very much.This is a nostalgic place where I stayed at the Urashima Hotel with friends on a tour to visit Ise Grand Shrine when I was 60 years old.Next time, I will take the train, hoping to visit it as the starting point of my Kumano Kodo walk.

I was impressed by the politeness of the proprietress, the older brother and the girl serving the tables. Especially the lady who takes care of the futon in the morning (I felt energized by the pleasant customer service from the morning).The bath was also small, but the hot water was good.As for the food, the tuna sashimi was the best.I was satisfied with the Kumano beef sukiyaki and the rare parts of whale.Breakfast was also delicious. The egg yolk was thick and I was excited.There's free coffee, the prices are reasonable, and you feel like they're doing their best, so overall I would rate it 5 stars, but I gave it 4 stars.The reason is that I understand that they are pushing sake, but I would like them to offer more types of beer.

Full of ideas, a fun and comfortable modern Japanese-style interior (both inside and outside the hotel), clean and warm baths (hot springs), delicious food and drinks served in a spacious and tasteful tatami room, and friendly service. I was unable to eat a hearty dinner after my surgery, so I was able to make a flexible reservation, with breakfast included for one night, and half-board for my husband.For dinner, you can enjoy four types of Wakayama local sake to suit your taste for 1,300 yen. Although it is opposite the station, the sound insulation is good and you can barely hear the train noise, and the comfortable bedding allows you to sleep soundly until morning. thank you very much.

Accommodation with 2 young children.【The room】7.5 tatami mats, just the right size for 2 adults and 2 children. A nice point was that a humidifier was provided. The futon was also comfortable.The kids amenities are cute. Slippers, toothbrush, handkerchief.No yukata or pajamas for children.[Cooking]We didn't order the children's portions, but took the adult portions and everyone was full.Kids cutlery available.No kids chairs.The sashimi and sukiyaki are extremely delicious.The owner of the inn, his wife, and all the staff treated us very politely. It's a wonderful inn. The food is excellent and I would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for taking care of my family of three.The hot springs are only indoors, and the temperature is 42.1℃. Unfortunately, there is circulation, but I didn't notice any chlorine smell. What is noteworthy is the concentration of ingredients, which totals 10,282.9mg/kg.Although it is said to be over 50 years old, the interior and rooms have been beautifully renovated. There are works by local artists painted on the walls. There is also a free drink corner with miso soup and soups.I was impressed by the ingenuity and consideration that was put into every aspect of the hotel, with the slogan, ``What a small guesthouse can do.''

This is my second time. There are many delicious dishes such as tuna and whale. The room was also clean and beautiful. It's right in front of the station, so you can hear the trains, but you can't hear the sounds from the rooms next door.This is a heartwarming guesthouse where you will receive courteous service.
