It would be hard for words to do it justice. The hosts were just so accommodating that it made us feel like we couldn't possibly deserve it.The food was unbelievable, rich and delicious and distinctly homemade, with a ridiculous amount of care put into it.We don't eat meat, so they made sure to prepare countless vegetable and seafood dishes which were just as amazing as the meat seems to be based on other reviews. We loved making udon noodles from scratch, which was not only a unique experience for us, but evidently also for people who live there - as one of the neighbors joined in to make them for apparently the first time in his life too.We also got to visit a nearby onsen, with breathtaking (award-winning!) views of the valley that felt like something straight out of a Ghibli film. This being our first time visiting a proper onsen frequented primarily by locals, Keita made sure to brief us on etiquette ahead of time, which helped avoid at least any _major_ faux pas.Keita used to live in the States and speaks fluent English - unusually for Japan and especially in the countryside - which made everything much easier for us.The other, non-English-speaking family members also did their best to make us feel welcome, and I only wish my Japanese were better so I could properly get to know them all, as they seem like such kind people and I'd have loved to properly express my gratitude towards each and every one.We only stayed for 1 night, this being primarily a Tokyo trip (we rented a car and drove 1-2 hours just to visit this place, which was definitely worth it), and while in retrospect more time could've made sense, they helped ensure that every minute we did have was well spent.

My sister and I stayed here for 3 days and truly loved it here. It was a very clean traditional styled home with beautiful antiques and lovely pottery. Miki, Keita and Miki’s mom were truly the best hosts and we had the most amazing meals — all home cooked but should honestly be on a tv for foodies (we are both food lovers ourselves). For activities we booked the car tour and several interesting activities that I would highly recommend to people: we got to do woodworking and make a soup, go paddleboarding, make washi paper, traditional stamp and udon making. The highlight was the amazing fireworks festival they got us access to with front row seats.I really can’t say how much we loved this experience and definitely have been telling all our friends about it. Will definitely be back (hopefully to check out a different season)

This farmstay was one of our all-time favorite experiences in Japan. The property was a beautifully renovated and decorated kominka. We had the place to ourselves during our stay. The food was plentiful, delicious, and nutritious, with the dinner served at an irori hearth and breakfast served wherever you'd like. We enjoyed how the meals really showcased the local area and community, with locally grown vegetables, local meats including deer, boar, and fish, and even things like delicious peanut ice cream made by a neighboring family's daughter. The most remarkable and special part for us was the hospitality from our hosts, Keita, Miki, and Yuko-san. They formed an entire personalized itinerary for us filled with wonderful experiences. We were able to engrave our own personalized hanko stamps and then use them for the first time in a tea ceremony / stamp ceremony. Another highlight was making our own goshuincho books, and then having the opportunity to have them stamped at a beautiful temple nearby. Our hosts were able to tailor things very well to what we wanted to see - for example Keita took us to different onsens with unique styles every night, and gave us a ride to a scenic point (twice) to try to get a view of Mount Fuji. We only stayed 3 days, but by the time we had to go, it felt like saying goodbye to family. I hope to stay again!

This is an inn in an old folk house that is warm and full of hospitality. It's near Mitama no Yu, where you can see the night view, so I checked in after enjoying the night view from dusk in the open-air bath. Dinner and breakfast served by the hearth were all delicious, using plenty of local ingredients. I was talking about how delicious wild vegetables were, and unfortunately it rained the next day, but I received a souvenir of wild vegetables on my way home, and I was grateful for their thoughtfulness. It was so comfortable that I felt like I was staying at the home of a distant relative who was good at cooking and hospitality. I would like to visit you again. It's quiet and the greenery you can see from the inn is soothing. We had coffee on the verandah while looking out at the garden, and we were able to spend time in various areas of the spacious old folk house.
