I wish that I could give this place a better recommendation because the owners are friendly and the location is good. The house, however, looks like something that has been standing empty for 50 years, and then someone decided to throw in a few beds, tables, and chairs and rent it out. Apart from the Japanese tatami mats and paper window screens, the interior is downright ugly, outdated, cheap, and worn out, and the atmosphere of the house is empty, boring, and cold. Also, some of the electrical installations are directly dangerous for children. It's not a place that we enjoyed staying in.

What a hidden treat!We were a group of 4 adults and we had lots of room. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs, two of them have single western beds. The other sleeping spaces are futons on tatami. The upstairs balcony has a wonderful view of Fuji.The downstairs has another sleeping room (if needed), a living room and a kitchen/dining area.The place is old but has charm.We stayed over golden week weekend and the place was a brilliant location as the cafes nearby as well as the shrine was quiet in comparison to the others by the lake which was great! It was only a 17 minute walk down to the lake which was nice and easy.A peaceful place to stay with hosts that communicate well when needed.
