Shin and his colleagues were amazing. Their attentiveness and sincerity were out of this world. They welcomed us and gave us an intro to our ryokan; answered any questions that we had and even upgraded our dinner since it was our honeymoon! The place was immaculate, clean, and even provided detailed recommendations on surrounding areas! We would love to visit here again if we get the opportunity!! Thank you for making our trip to this private ryokan a highlight of our honeymoon!!

We visited Kyonoyado Gekkoan from late March to early April 2024. Our hosts Shin and Shohei were incredible. When we first arrived they greeted us with a lovely tea and snack. They showed us all the amenities at the ryokan including the amazing shower and bath/hot tub that opens up to the garden. Shin and Shohei also took the time to discuss everything Kyoto had to offer and helped us create an itinerary. They also provided a ton of great recommendations for food and other activities. The ryokan itself was beautiful and incredibly comfortable but the white glove service from Shin and Shohei truly went above and beyond. I unfortunately became sick during our trip and was unable to leave the ryokan one day. Shin and Shohei took such good care of me! They stopped by with cold medicine and a warm comforting udon dish that reminded me of home. Throughout the day they continuously checked in on me and made sure I had everything I needed. I’ve never experienced such amazing and genuine customer service. I cannot recommend staying at the Kyonoyado Gekkoan enough.

A very unique Ryokan with classic luxury designs and fantastic modern electric facilities. The manager is pretty helpful and gives us great suggestions about how to enjoy Kyoto and nearby. Every penny deserves.

If I could give our stay a 10 I would. Shin and his staff were so kind and provided exceptional service and hospitality. We stayed in the western suite. It was traditional with modern amenities. The room was immaculate. So much thought and character went into the design. The Kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast were amazing. I would 100000% stay here again. Highly recommend!!

We were really, really touched. This was our second night in Japan. We called the restaurant where we had dinner at about 18:10 to reconfirm whether there was a parking lot at the B&B. We arrived at the B&B at about 19:00, and the B&B housekeeper was always there. Waited for us at the door and picked me up in the parking lot when I went to park my car. After returning to the B&B, three people received us, with welcome snacks and cold drinks, as well as a very detailed introduction to the environment and explanations. It turned out that this is a 130-year-old Kyoto historic site. We were really surprised. We were really treated very well. Happy, full of happiness.

We really liked this place. It was a nice, traditional looking place. The entrance was covered in art by a local artist. The first room has a traditional table. …

We stayed one night in the luxury suite, and our experience was truly unforgettable! The room's artful touches and rich heritage left us in awe. Our hosts, Shohei and Mr. Shin, provided exceptional hospitality, exceeding our expectations in every way. They shared the room's history and significance, recommended top-notch local restaurants and activities, and even assisted us with our luggage on a rainy day. Their attention to detail and kindness were impressive. The location was ideal, with attractions like Nijo Castle and amenities like convenience stores, pharmacies, and shopping arcades with numerous restaurants within a short walking distance. We're deeply grateful for their superb hospitality and highly recommend this incredible suite!

Truly the most perfect first impression of Japan as the first lodging of our trip. We were greeted with utmost kindness and were given an in-depth overview of the amenities as well as the deep meaning behind the location we were staying in. Shin and Shohei stayed with us to plan our entire 3 day itinerary in Kyoto for two hours—Recommending hidden gems and sights to see in different nearby regions. Their english was very good and we got to share some good laughs (Shin is an amazing artist who illustrated how to pay respects at a shrine hehe) on top of learning a lot! We definitely felt welcomed and cared for! Additionally after their recommendation Shin sent over the amazing curation of places with full descriptions of what each place was as well as a Google maps link to every location on WeChat. Every night when we returned we were greeted with the tidiest space and a tea with sweets pairing. I also had the chance to run into Shohei on a morning walk as I was killing time as my husband slept and he recommended a nearby temple I could walk to during my morning explorations that was super lovely to check out!The room itself was beautiful and is certified for the best sleep for good reason. There was an amazing mix of traditional and modern details. The Garden Room included a washing/drying machine in one (if I knew about how efficient this was I definitely would have packed less beforehand!), a kotatsu in the living room, heated tatami floors, a refrigerator, a automated toilet, and amazing customizable lighting settings for the bedroom for sleep mode, a morning wake-up lighting mode, or dimmed relaxation mode. Most importantly the star of the room was the bath tub!!! Every night I took a bath in the comfort of the private tub and looked out at the private garden in the quiet Kyoto ambiance. It is insanely relaxing—especially when it rained and the ambiance was so soothing. Cherry on top is that in the garden we got to witness an exciting surprise with a bamboo flowering that happens once every 120 years!!Many thank yous for the amazing care and attention to detail. We will never forget this experience and hope to be back soon! 🙏🏼
