We would definitely recommend this traditional ryokan and onsen steps away from Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama. Our host was truly lovely and hospitable, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We requested vegetarian breakfasts, and were rewarded with visually stunning and delicious kaiseki meals in the morning. There must have been 10 different things to try each morning. The style was somewhat like shojin ryori, but even better. We would have a huge breakfast at Sachiya and wouldn't need to eat all day long. Our room was spacious in the sleeping area, but we did have quite a bit of luggage since we were in Japan for three weeks. We managed to keep it on the wood platform just outside the sliding shoji doors and away from the tatami. Our room had a fermented pickle odor that we got used to (we couldn't find the source). The bathroom was small, just a toilet, but the downstairs onsen was great for both private use at night, as well as shared use in the daytime. I showered on the women's side a few times and didn't see anyone else.We slept on futons on the tatami, as is traditional, and the host was kind enough to bring us each an extra futon, which helped us a lot (with back, neck, and hip pain). The Sachiya also had parking for our rental car, and was ideally located. We visited Dogo Onsen a few times, as well as the nearby covered mall/shopping street, which was really nice. The larger covered mall/shopping street area close to Matsuyama Castle was about 10 minutes away by car, and lot parking was plentiful and inexpensive. We will definitely return next time we visit Shikoku. Arigatou gozaimashita!!

Wonderful simple hotel but excellent service and clean rooms. It is near the oldest onsen in Japan and Matsuyama Castle. We especially liked the personal service afforded us while we stayed there. I can see why Oku Japan selected them as one of their preferred hotels.

Charming English speaking host . We stayed here as part of a 88 pilgrimage trek with Oku Japan. Lovely room, nice big private onsen, good location near shopping, tourist office and Dogo Onsen. And the best food in Japan . Rent bikes at the tourist office. We recommend you stay here.

Accommodation for solo travelerThe location is about 30 seconds from the Dogo Onsen main building, and you can also visit the main building by taking a morning bath first thing in the morning. Bath sets can be rented at the inn.The service, including the Nakai, is very good and you can enjoy it even by yourself. The food was delicious both in the evening and in the morning, and the interior of the room didn't give you any feeling of being in the city.Although I only slept for a short time because I was out playing, the futon was super comfortable. As for my own mistake, I should have checked in around 3pm and had more time to sightsee as there were many tourist facilities in the area. Also, if I have a chance to visit, I will consider repeating.

It's a small inn, by no means luxurious, but it's good for people who want to spend a quiet and relaxing time. There was a private bath available, meals were taken care of if you let us know in advance if you didn't like them, and it was a small place near Dogo Onsen Station, making it very easy to get around. It was delicious and filling. Although you can't expect great views from the inn, it is a comfortable inn to stay in.

It was my first time at Dogo Onsen.Sachiya's room was very clean and the scent of the tatami mats was soothing. It was very spacious and relaxing.Dinner was kaiseki and everything was delicious. There was a lot of sea bream rice, but I had it made into rice balls and ate it the next day.It was delicious freshly made, but it was still delicious even after it had cooled. For breakfast, I had another type of taimeshi (the type with sashimi on top) and it was also very delicious. The hot springs were reserved for private use and we were able to take a relaxing soak. Private rental is the best. The morning was also reserved, so I was able to relax.Everyone at the inn was so kind and I felt really relaxed. I would love to visit you again.thank you very much.

Dogo Onsen Main Building, right next to the arcade and for sightseeingis in a very good location. It's a small inn, but it was very nice. There are two baths and they are not big.Twice before and after dinnerYou can rent it out comfortably. The hot water seems to be the same as the Dogo Onsen main building. You can also enter the main building in your yukata.Dinner was full of sea bream and was exquisite.Sea bream sukiyaki, Usuzukuri, Boiled Kabuto, TaimeshiAll of them have a gentle taste and are the best.Botchan abalone, tempura, Iyo beef, etc. This was also really delicious. As for drinks, only local sake is available. There is a comparison of only orange juice.I enjoyed it with the food. Please take a photo tooI got it when I checked out.The staff are also kind.I was able to enjoy Dogo Onsen to the fullest. It was a very good trip.I want to come back again!thank you very much.
