It's a little far from the center of Kusatsu Onsen, but it's a nice inn with a Showa feel!

When I arrived to check in there were 2 young and very nice girls that spoke a little English at the desk. I eventually found out they were from Nepal. I asked many questions about the onsens in the town and they did not about the big 3. However they could not locate their own Ryokan on any map which I thought was quite astounding. As I was staying 3 nights I was given Room 1 which was really lovely. It had windows on two sides with nice views of trees and a small enclosed balcony where you could sit and enjoy the view. The room was quite large and really the nicest ryokan room I had during my 2 weeks in Japan. This ryokan is old and is in need of some renovation and it would be nice it there was a common area to comfortably sit. However it does have it own onsen which was really great featuring an indoor and outdoor pool which nice natural views. The ryokan is about 15 to 20 minutes from the bus station on foot and even less to the town center. Value for money I was the best place I stayed in Japan and it is clearly a budget favourite based on the clientele.

It's a little far from Yubatake, but if the time permits, a taxi or shuttle will take you there. It's about a 15-minute walk from Yubatake, so it's within walking distance, but it's up a hill and it's dark, so you might want to take a car late at night.

Travel site's day trip plan for 3 hours only, I used the private bath (less than an hour) and the guest room. (Do not use the public bath)It came with a yukata, socks, and a large and small towel. The building itself has an old and retro feel and seems to have been maintained through cleaning and repairs. It is not recommended for those who are concerned about parts that deteriorate over time or due to humidity. The hot water is poured straight from the Kusatsu Bandai Mine source without adding water. It's the best hot spring. It seems like they change it every day (that's why you can't enter the public bath until 3pm)This time it was only used by people in the private bath, but the temperature of the water was about 41-42 degrees, which is comfortable to bathe in.There was a washing area and bathtub (1.5m x 2m) in a space of about 3 tatami mats, and a wall-mounted fan in the changing room of about 1.5 tatami mats, which was perfect for after a bath. There was also a hair dryer and cotton supplies. However, there was no lotion, so it's a good idea to bring your own. (Maybe in the public bath)Looking at the small backyard while taking a private bath? It was very calming. I opened the window and closed the screen to enter, and it was amazing. I highly recommend it.The guest rooms are old-fashioned, quiet and relaxing. Recommended for people who want to get a good rest away from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, the equipment is old, so I don't recommend it to people who are nervous. It is not a luxury inn, so only those who understand that perfection cannot be expected. It's a quiet property surrounded by trees in a slightly secluded area, so it's not suitable for people who are dissatisfied with the distance from the Yubatake or the convenience store. The customer service is also flawless.Next time I will stay overnight!

Weekdays 1 night without meals 2 adults 9743 yenI was able to make a reservation at a low price (Agoda)Free parking available. The room was a Japanese-style room with futons. There is no bath in the room. The hot springs are open from check-in until 9:00 the next day.You can enter freely. There is also a separate private bath available.Hot springs are the best!!The slightly hot hot springs are overflow from the source. And it is reserved ✨No matter how many times I come in, it's always reserved. The morning bath was also reserved.10 minutes walk to Kusatsu YubatakeWe also provide pick-up and drop-off by car (until 21:00)The hotel also has a nice feel. This inn is perfect for hot spring lovers.

I stayed there again this time because it was good when I stayed there before, but it had changed a lot since the last time, probably due to a change in management.Anyway, there were no staff (mostly foreigners), so I was wondering what to do with trash and towels. On some days, I didn't see any of the staff.I was told that the bathtub was changed every day, but even though it was an indoor bath, there were still dead insects, and trash and used cups that had been thrown out two days before were still there. I was also concerned about the smell of the bath towels. The hot water is very good as it flows directly from the source (Bandaiko).Well, rather than thinking of it as a hot spring inn, it would be better to think of it more like a guest house. By the way, there was no one at the front desk when I checked out, and I didn't meet anyone.Breakfast (pasta-style or Japanese-style) is 1,500 yen and can be ordered the day before, but it seems like it won't be possible if a cook isn't available.Depending on the time, there is also a shuttle service to Yubatake and other places.

I will be visiting again, but I will book a plan that includes breakfast from the reservation site. When I asked about the breakfast time at check-in, they said, "They don't have breakfast."? ? ? ?My reservation was supposed to include breakfast, so I asked them to check, but they said it wasn't included.I'm posting this without changing the plan. The price is for a room without meals, so it's okay. No, that's not it.It's a foreign staff, so there's no point in giving up, so I give up.Previously, there was a very considerate hostess, and the breakfast was delicious, so I was able to eat my fill, which was one of the things I looked forward to.When I entered the room this time, the futon was already spread out on the floor, making me feel very uncomfortable as if I had been taken to a hostel.Cleaning the bathroom is also appropriate. All the staff are foreigners, so I wonder if they sold it to a foreign company. It's really difficult to go without breakfast in Kusatsu. The set meal shop in Yubatake that I had been running since morning was also temporarily closed, so I was really starving.Eating convenience store food standing up.It's sad even though Kusatsu-kun came here. There was no one at the front desk when I checked out and there was a sign saying the room was being cleaned. The shoes at the entrance are scattered too. This is the first time that there was no one at the front desk at check-out time.It seems like she doesn't feel like seeing her off. There is no favoritism or deterioration.I was even more disappointed because it was completely different from when I was with the landlady. This is completely normal in hotels overseas, but this is a Japanese hot spring inn.I guess foreigners can't understand it.Another good inn has disappeared.Acquired by foreigners in various places! Japan's good culture is disappearing one after another. It is truly regrettable and regrettable.
