This is the best if you want to experience real Japanese old house culture rather than a hotel-style ryokan. The location is in the middle of a village where Kyoto old houses are gathered, a 5-minute walk to Asaka Tower, a 10-minute walk to Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, a 20-minute walk to Cheongsui Temple, and a 15-minute walk to Gion-Shijo Station. There's an older lady waiting for us, and she's really kind. The shower is outside the room, but it's not far away, and there's a hinoki bathtub, so it's great for unwinding. The host provides warm water before showering. The fully Japanese breakfast was also very delicious (additional charge). The room was spacious and the bedding was very comfortable. There are pretty yukatas, kotatsus, and everything else you would expect from a Japanese ryokan! There is also a separate private living room. There were two of us, and we used up the entire second floor for one bin and one living room! Some reviews said it was cold, but I used it in mid-January and slept well and warm! When you wake up in the morning, the view of the old house village you can see out the window is the best. I highly recommend it!

Perfect location for this budget accommodation. The review is based on my expectations from the property. Rooms are small but are well furnished. Great breakfast and Japanese bath and historic Koyoto right there at the door step. I would definitely stay here again.

I came back in the middle of the night and fell asleep, so I thought I'd just take a shower the next morning, but they actually prepared a bath for me in the morning. I was impressed. The landlady was also friendly and very kind.I want to use it again.

I like Ishibekoji and have stayed there in the past. This is my third time (first time in 6 years!?).The landlady remembered my face well, so I felt at ease, as if I had returned to my parents' home. As for the bath, in my case, I let them know the time I would like to take the bath in advance, so I was satisfied that I was able to use it comfortably. I always asked for a plan that included breakfast, but I was satisfied because I was able to enjoy Kyoto cuisine that I don't usually eat.The room is very old-fashioned (of course 😵💦). It was a relaxing room for adults.I received pudding as a welcome service (!?) that I had never had before, and it was delicious. The only problem is that you can sometimes hear people talking, probably because the number of people passing through Ishibe Alley has increased compared to the past. (In the past, the night was truly silent.)

I stayed using Go to Travel. The price is also reasonableThe location is great. The bar district isn't far either.Gion is just a stone's throw away. The bath is a private cypress bath until 1am.You can enter it as many times as you like. (If there is no prior agreement)In a building with over 200 years of historyIt was an elegant building that you should definitely experience when you come to Kyoto.Recommended!
