We are very disappointed with this hotel.First of all, as soon as we arrived, the staff avoided us. Even if it says he only speaks Japanese, a smile and showing goodwill wouldn't hurt.In addition, when we wanted to make a reservation for dinner, because there is not a restaurant open within an hour's walk, the person at reception told us that it would be 9900 yen for two. We told him it was too expensive for us so he found us a dish for 1100 yen per person. This is the first time in several hotels in Japan that we feel bad there. Indeed, this was not specified but there is no shower, neither in the room nor in the establishment! The only “showers” are those for the onsens so open constantly and for everyone. It's worth avoiding if you want a minimum of privacy and to be well located to go to the historic villages. For this price it is not understandable and borders on unacceptable!

A hot spring hotel in the Gokayama area. There are also dancing events at night, depending on the day of the week. Hotel staff will show you a dance. Food and hot springs are both OK. Apparently the pickled plums are homemade.

The room was clean, the bath was open 24 hours a day, and the food was delicious with ingredients from the mountains.

This was such a sweet stop after spending time in Ainokura and touring the Gassho houses. Let it be known that the area is more remote so getting here requires bus and walking if you don’t have a car like us. The food was very good, the outdoor onsen was beautiful and we were lucky enough to see a performance of the regions traditional dance in the lobby.
