Our family of 4 stayed two nights at this historic storehouse and it was amazing- definitely our favorite stay of our two week Japan vacation. The storehouse is one building of several on a property originally owned and built by a well known family. The building has been beautifully restored and looks like many of the other historic samurai homes you can visit in town, except you have it to yourself and get to sleep in it! The street is quiet and beautiful, and there is parking behind it (though you check in at the managing hotel a few blocks away). I don't think it's advertised well because it seemed very quiet; nobody was staying in the other storehouse behind ours. Definitely a hidden gem. It was also spotless and enormous; much bigger than our family needed. Highly recommend!

The whole warehouse is for rent. It seems that it was not relocated but was originally located at this location. The first floor is about 30 tsubo and the second floor is about 15 tsubo. It has been beautifully renovated, clean and comfortable. I stayed at Bukegura in January and it didn't feel cold at all. I was happy that the Wi-Fi was extremely fast and there was plenty of hot water. I checked in at a JR hotel in front of the station and was transferred by car. On the way back, I left my luggage at Bushigura and went sightseeing, then picked it up at a hotel in front of the station before boarding the Shinkansen.

This time I decided to stay at Wa no I's Bushigura for the first time. Check-in is done at Folkloro in front of the station. I'm surprised that JR would run an inn with such a concept.Next to the Nishinomiya family, Bushigura and Gakkogura were located on the same site. The entrance requires a PIN code, so there is no need for a key, so there is no hassle. When you enter, you will see a samurai armor on your left, but it is not an old one like the one at Kakunodate's folklore museum, but a replica. However, it is powerful. There's a hearth (though you can't use it) in the front, and it's a sunken kotatsu, so it's a nice place to sit on a regular basis. I ended up working here. Wi-Fi is also available. There are two toilets and a large bath. (Not a hot spring)There is a counter, tea and coffee are prepared, and the utensils are nice.Climb to the second floor and you will find a bedroom.Although it was originally a warehouse, it feels like they were able to remodel it well.Although it was May, it was a little chilly under my feet, so I turned on the floor heater and it was warm and comfortable.Breakfast will be brought to you at the designated time. Rice and miso soup are also kept warm and can be eaten piping hot.Since it is a warehouse, you have to be careful with the beams and steps, but they have taken care of it and I was able to spend a comfortable time in a warehouse, which is difficult to stay in.Furnishings are also on display, and the building itself has a nostalgic feel with the smell of my parents' home in Kakunodate.Realization: There are no windows, so I can't see the weather outside. (Although it's not inconvenient)Dim due to indirect lighting.Quick request (as of May 2022)All you need is sandals or sandals for outdoor wear.Amenities are provided, but unfortunately there are no cosmetics. The inside of the closet on the first floor is dark, so it would be nice to have a light that turns on when you open it.May 2022

This hotel is a renovated storehouse, and you can rent out one horse. We stayed at Nishinomiya Gakkogura. The famous samurai residence street is about a 10 minute walk away. The entrance is the same as a warehouse, giving you a sense of history. The design inside was very stylish, with a pickle barrel motif. One of the features of this room is that you can see the cherry blossoms while taking a bath during the cherry blossom season. Breakfast was brought to us at the time specified by the hotel. There is also floor heating, so we were able to stay warm even in early spring.
