We had an excellent stay here in December, Elizabeth and Satoshi were excellent, Satoshi made us delicious meals for dinner and breakfast, and Elizabeth was super friendly, helpful, and chatty :) The room was comfortable and had what we needed, the onsens were a delight also! We went in one of the onsens and it was just us, very cosy and relaxing.The location is also very picturesque and peaceful, a great place to stay! You'll probably need a taxi to get there, but Satoshi/Elizabeth were happy to drive us back to the station when we stayed.Overall I would 100% recommend staying there!

The Inn is ran by a lively old couple, there are 2 inside baths and one outside.I recommend ordering a dinner as well, as it is was great in both taste and presentation.Since the place is located somewhat high in the hills, I recommend ordering a taxi from the Tóbu station. (The owner will be happy to drive you back when you check out.)

2 weeks before my departure I was diagnosed with a serious illness, so I had to cancel my trip to Japan, I notified immediately the structure so they had all the time to rebook my room (which they surely did) but when I asked for a refund they refused. So I asked if they could issue a voucher for a future trip when my condition would be better and they refused also that. Every other structure refund me and understood my position except for this one. I won't go there for sure in the future. Unbelievable inhumanity and greed!

Wonderful place. Elizabeth was very hospitable and friendly. The room was a decent size, had air con, and the beds were comfy with nice fluffy bedding. It was great to go in the private baths - they have a couple including an outdoor one with a forest view. Satoshi's dinner was delicious and well balanced. At the price we paid, it was all an absolute steal and we were very happy we stayed there.People should be aware that it is a guesthouse in a forest location that is a bit out of town.

The inn is really comfortable and homey, located in the middle of a forest. The atmosphere is great, in particular the ability to use a private onsen one of which is located outdoors with forest view. The hosts - Satoshi and Elizabeth are great and really helpful. They helped us with planning our day trips and were really nice to us. We ate breakfast, and it was great and worth the price. The rooms are big and comfortable, with all the required facilities.

The stay at the Gableview Forest Inn was just perfect. The hosts are super nice, have lots of tips and stories about the area and are also ready for small talk. The on-site dinner is also very good and the on-site onsen is a great place to relax. The rooms were lovingly furnished with a mix of a traditional Japanese seating area and a Western bed. We felt completely in good hands and there is nothing that could have been done better! The decoration in the house is also very tasteful.The accommodation can be reached from Nikko train station in about 50 minutes on foot, or in 10 minutes by taxi (cost approx. 1,500 yen). Alternatively, you can take the bus towards Kirifuri Waterfalls, which unfortunately runs very rarely, get off at the fork in the road and then walk for about 15 minutes (costs ~300 yen per person).

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Gableview and wish we could have stayed longer! Elizabeth and Satoshi were delightful hosts, so welcoming, helpful, and interesting to chat with!Our room was huge and the bed was extremely comfortable! Be sure to ask Elizabeth about all of the art in the inn, and make sure you get to try Satoshi's cooking!The location was a little out of town, so you do need to plan accordingly and taxi services are difficult to find after 8PM. We needed a cab to get to the Inn, but on Saturday we took a lovely hike down to the various temples and enjoyed the walk. The location is peaceful and quiet and you will certainly sleep well!

Booked 1 night at this amazing location and both host were ever so kind and welcoming.We used the indoor outdoor private onsen and it was great! Bed was comfortable and huge. Rooms were cosy and many creative furniture to appreciate.If you didn’t book dinner or breakfast with them, Elizebeth and Satoshi has a file full of recommendations of what to dine in Nikko. Simply helpful!We recommend driving as it is easier to get around Nikko and to the accommodation.

Very friendly Guest cover... with a great onsen which overlooks the outside... the only difficulty is that there is no public transport to go to the area... (taxi around 1500 yen per trip).Despite everything, we recommend 😉

Lovely place and lovely hosts! Elizabeth and Satoshi were just great and their place was nice and quiet a little outside of town. Wonderful place to retreat to after a long day of hiking or sightseeing. Can't wait to go back!

Incredible stay with this charming and complementary couple. The food was delicious and worthy of a gourmet restaurant! Elisabeth’s kindness and availability touched us a lot. Their house is beautiful, tastefully decorated and the indoor and outdoor bath are just perfect for relaxing after a day of walking. We recommend 200%!

I stayed for 2 nights with my husband and parents. Satoshi and Elizabeth were amazing hosts. So friendly and hospitable. The rooms were so clean and comfortable. Satoshi is an incredible cook. The meals were so delicious! Definitely make a reservation for dinner and breakfast! We loved it so much, we’re already making plans to go again at the end of the year! :)

We loved this gableview forest Inn so much that we decided to extend our stay for 2 more nights. The dinner prepared by satoshi and liz was marvelous, all very yummy and generous- must try! We had very good quality rest every night. The bed was the most comfortable we've ever experienced! The place was quiet, had good privacy, and the suite was very comfortable with good space. Having a private onsen was such a treat too. Liz and satoshi were very very kind to offer us a lift when they could. Would definitely come back to stay again if we have a chance to.
