Stayed here for two nights with 4 people in the Komegura house with breakfast and dinner included, and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. The location is a short drive from Aso Station and there is plentiful free parking. The development consists of Cafe Sakura, Peony jewelry shop, and I think 2-3 houses to stay in and we were in Komegura. We arrived a bit early at 2pm but were welcomed by the super friendly and helpful female manager who allowed us to check in prior to our 3pm scheduled check in time. The house itself is a beautiful and spacious 2-storey Japanese traditional home renovated with modern touches. On the first floor, you have the entrance, kitchen/dining, big tatami room used as a living room and also for sleeping, a resting corner, the main bathroom, and an outdoor semi-private garden with the sauna and cold dipping pool. On the 2nd floor which overlooks the 1st floor, you have a western style bedroom with an outdoor patio. We didn't use the kitchen except for boiling water but looks like a very nice place to make and have meals. The living/tatami room was very comfortable with the bean bag couch, big wood slab table, and the projector+sound bar. The projector has Android TV built in and it was a nice touch how they provide their own Amazon Prime and Netflix accounts (didn't check the other apps) so you don't need to have the service or sign into your own. Haven't used a projector in awhile so was pleasantly surprised at how quickly this one powers up (basically instantly) and it's nice that the projector has its own built in speaker and light too (though the sound bar is even better). The bathroom is very spacious with the basin, separate WC, and bath/shower area and washing machine. Upstairs is also nice with the western style bed, super long wood slab table and outdoor porch that overlooks the parking lot and paddy fields beyond. The small rest area next to the tatami space is also a comfy area to take a nap. We stayed with my parents so while my wife and I slept upstairs (up a somewhat steep set of beautiful timber steps), my parents slept downstairs on the futons.During the cold evenings, the sauna was nice (pretty easy to prep - just use the torch to light up the fire place inside the sauna and come back in 30-60 minutes) and I also worked up the courage to dip in the cold pool before cycling back to the sauna. The fireplace inside of the house is nice as well. They also provide pajamas, a separate set of outfits for using the sauna, and also some warm zip-up jackets. For the meals, we had them in the same building as the jewelry store next door where there is a private dining room. The room itself is spacious with the tall ceiling, a long timber slab table, and background videos displayed on the wall via projector while you eat. For dinner, it was a multi-course meal (I think 7?) of numerous things, all very delicious and very fresh. We went in not knowing what to expect and really enjoyed the whole dining experience. We had dinner and breakfast for two times, and each meal consisted of different items so you won't have to worry about any repeats.Overall, we really enjoyed this mixed modern ryokan-like experience compared to a traditional ryokan. The facilities, meals, location, and service were all amazing! The one aspect I would have liked is if there were an outdoor onsen-type bath but it's understandable since it's not a big building. Also take note that there's only 1 bathroom (also all connected, so if one person wants to use the WC while someone else is bathing, it's possible but the person bathing will be visible when the other goes in/out). For our stay, I was able to speak Japanese so am not sure about guests who are English-only but I'm sure between the service of the staff and some Google Translate there won't be any problems that can't be overcome.Highly recommended to stay here, and also elect for everything (breakfast, especially dinner, and the sauna)

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, I went on a family trip for the first time in a while. In conclusion, this is a great accommodation! We were very satisfied with the tasteful and sophisticated design of the inn, the hospitality of the landlady, the delicious food, the location that could be seen from the inn, etc.I brought it to my family as a surprise, and they kept saying ``Amazing!'' and my stock of choosing it went up, so I'm grateful to Chagura no Yado. One disappointing thing was that it was cloudy the night I stayed, so I couldn't see the stars. If there were no clouds, the starry sky would definitely be beautiful...I would like to get revenge next time.It was the perfect accommodation that made me want to work hard and bring my family again.

Warm, comfortable and considerate B&B, the chef's first-class craftsmanship is worthy of one Michelin star. We only accept one group of guests every day, so you need to eat and sleep well before setting off.
