Chopping wood, building a fire, cooking rice, cooking a bath, and staying in an old folk house. As the name of ``Old Life Experience Inn'' suggests, you can experience the life of old Japan in the great nature of Iya.Split a log, start a fire, and let the wild blood in you come out. And after working out and sweating as much as you can, the Goemon bath feels so good that you can't help but say, "Ah, ah, ah".After your bath, local Iya cuisine and drinks from around the world await you. These drinks were brought by travelers who had stayed at Romantei in the past. It was a special moment as I savored the food and sake while feeling the connections and memories with various travelers. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy the starry sky at night and the sunrise in the morning. The spectacular scenery, which looks like something out of a Japanese folk tale, took my breath away.I stayed with my wife and children, and I feel that it was a great experience, both in terms of making memories and providing survival education to my children. One thing to keep in mind is to understand the concept well before participating. It's "old life". It doesn't have all the new amenities you'd find in a luxury hotel, so if you're looking for that, you'd be better off staying at another hotel.*Just in case, it doesn't have fancy facilities, but I felt nostalgic and moved by the interior decoration, which is full of attention to detail. If you are interested in the Japanese way of life in the past, want to experience the wild, or want to spend time in nature, I think you will have the best experience at Roman-tei. Book now and go. Shino-san, the owner of Roman-tei, will welcome you.

This was my last night here in Japan. I’m now back in my home country. By far the most memorable farmstay. Shino-San has extraordinary hospitality. He goes the extra mile for your stay here and takes great pride as a guest host. His house is on the top of a hill, hidden and secluded but well worth the find. As a bonus he speaks great English so it’s easy to communicate with him for a more personable experience.

Thanks to Shino-san, who miscalculated the time due to the distance, and Delay check in, Shino-san’s enthusiasm. What greeted us was the national flag hanging high, which made me feel like I was home, just like a father who is afraid that the children returning home will be hungry, or Cold. We made a pot of tea, prepared hot water for us to take a bath, cooked a lot of traditional Japanese dinners for us to enjoy, and even had unlimited sake. It was so touching and unforgettable. The next day, I woke up naturally and asked us if we were hungry? Prepare a delicious breakfast and let us DIY rice balls for lunch. When they left, they watched us off and held up the national flag.Shino-san, we will come back again, I wish you peace and health.

A unique experience staying in an traditional Japanese house. The host/ chef, Shino san is very warm & friendly who taught us wood chopping & rice cooking in a stone stove. We also enjoyed the hot water spa tub while appreciating the mountain scenery & a sense of serenity under a starry sky. The dinner with unlimited supply of Japanese rice wine was a nice surprise.Everything seemed to be aligned with its website. It is no doubt that Shino-san was trying his best to provide a special experience to the guests. Yet he is the only person running the entire business and we think he needs some help - the house & garden are desperately needing some clean up.

Imagine staying in a traditional guest house, chopping your wood to prepare fire to cook your own rice, soaking in a hot tub of water heated by firewood, having dinner cooked in the central hearth in the house, enjoying sumptuous dinner and drinking sake with a wonderful host. It’s all happening here. Just loved the aromatic taste of cooked rice, huge collection of sake which you can sample. It’s the kind of holiday getaway experience that you can’t find elsewhere. Shino San makes sure you find your stay here fulfilling
