Delightful ryoken, conveniently situated next to the first temple if you're doing the pilgrimage. The owners were super friendly and helpful, and the food and presentation were amazing. For western visitors, this is not a western-style hotel, so bear that in mind if you are unfamiliar with what staying at a ryoken entails.

The rice was delicious. The breakfast tamagoyaki was delicious as per the reviews, and the other dishes were delicious as well, so I was so full that I fainted in agony after every meal.

The food was amazing and delicious! The juicy soup-wrapped eggs for breakfast and the boiled and hot-pot dishes for dinner are all made with the exquisite soup stock. The staff's big smiles make me feel good. The room was also very clean.I came back to try the conger conger dish, so I'll add some pictures. The fluffy texture was exquisite.

Family-run inn with excellent services. Expect to try out the local cooking! Speak out your requirements with the help of Google Translate and you will get more than what you want. Off from a busy road, it is factually a nice and quiet inn adjacent to a well-respected Buddhist temple. Highly recommended.

This was the first inn of my Henro trip and a great way to start off.The meals were delicious. The family running the inn are kind and helpful. They were able to organize the pick up of our luggage. The Japanese-style room was clean, spacious and had a private bath and WC.What I enjoyed most was the atmosphere in the dining room. We all said hello and good bye to everyone and there was chatting between tables. A lovely way to start Henro! Thanks so much.

A pilgrim's inn located right next to Ryozenji Temple, the first of the 88 temples in Shikoku. As you would expect from a culinary inn, all of the dishes from the sea and the mountains were delicious, and we enjoyed seasonal and local dishes such as freshly fried tempura, miso soup with barley miso, and a large freshly made piping hot omelet. The rooms are very clean and are traditional Japanese-style rooms for pilgrims. There was a bath with soft water and a separate toilet, so I was able to take a good rest.We were very grateful to the courteous and kind people at the hotel. thank you very much.It was my last stay at Gyakuuchi, but it was a wonderful stay that felt like a reward. If I have a chance to go on a pilgrimage again, I will definitely visit here.
