This is an incredible location being within a short walk in ski boots to Akakura onsen ski area. Walking distance to local onsens, restaurants and bars. If you stay here and want a politically incorrect joke, ask the bloke running the place what is an "ODAC"

Well positioned lodge with very helpful staff. The lodge is a short (about 5 min) walk to lift the ski hill in front of the lodge. And about a 10 min walk to restaurants at night. For 500yen pp the lodge will drive you to nearby resorts. It was a very enjoyable stay

Our stay at Ikigai lodge was nothing short of amazing. The location is incredibly convenient, being right across the road from Akakura Onsen ski resort (you can literally ski right down to the road, walk across the road and you're at Ikigai lodge). Only a 2 min walk to Akakura Kanko ski resort. Both great ski resorts! A delicious range of restaurants are only a short walk up the main road. Onsens also not far up the main road and a convenience store.Our rooms at the lodge were super tidy, spacious, had warm heaters, the comfiest beds and perfect hot showers. The common area was also very cosy where a delicious breakfast is served each day and apres hosted of an evening, a great social space to get to meet other guests and discuss all things skiing/snowboarding/travel. Common area has lounges, beanbags, a TV and some board games (there is also a separate kids movie room!!). The lodge also has a drying room, a gym and washing/drying machines.The staff at Ikigai are so friendly and were happy to help with ALL of our questions and offered to assist us with whatever we needed!! They picked us up from Myoko Kogen train station and (with a small fee) were able to drop us off at our next destination in Yamanouchi, which was super convenient!!Would ABSOLUTELY stay here again, 4 nights was not nearly enough!

A very convivial lodge at the doorstep of Akakura Onsen lifts and very near to Akakan lifts; super warm staff, hearty breakfasts daily and a fun apres scene in the communal great room. Equipment storage, laundry, as well as gym at B1.
