I stayed in a 6 tatami Japanese style room on the 1st floor of the main building + Takasugi room on the next floor. There are probably 4 rooms on the first floor of the main building facing the garden, but I recommend staying in the 3 8 tatami rooms other than the room I stayed in. The location is completely different. The rooms in the main building seem to have indoor baths, but I heard that only the top four rooms (two on the 1st floor and 2 on the 2nd floor) have natural hot spring water. So it was a little disappointing. The hotel seems to have a head chef, but I was very satisfied with both dinner and breakfast. The staff took good care of me, and I had a comfortable stay.

This was such a nice traditional hotel. The next hotel we’re staying at is modern and it just isn’t the same…so I’m already missing Matsudaya Hotel. From the rooms to the services to the amenities. Would love to come back again. Their hospitality was awe inspiring

This is a long-established restaurant where you can enjoy the atmosphere and calmness of the Meiji era, while having meals in a stylish private room where you can have a comfortable time. I didn't really see much value in abalone in the past, but it was delicious for the first time! I felt that. The other dishes were also beautiful and delicious.

This is a very nice ryokan in Yamaguchi Prefecture. I'm fascinated by food. The blowfish is especially delicious, but I was surprised by the abalone dish. The chef's skills are so great that you'll want to enjoy kaiseki rather than hotpot. The hot springs are also good. It's also fun to feed the carp in your garden. The view from your room window is of a wonderful garden that looks like a painting.I am impressed by how carefully it has been taken care of.I loved the matcha and fresh sardines that I received upon arrival.

My husband and I are enjoying a hot spring inn. On my way back from Kyushu, I stopped by Matsudaya Hotel, a long-established inn with ties to the Meiji Restoration patriots. …

■Good points・On one side, there are two indoor baths and two outdoor baths, so it's spacious, clean, and the temperature is just right.・You can feel the history everywhere in the building・Beautiful outside garden (you can feed the carp)・You can enjoy a gradually increasing number of items for both dinner and breakfast.・Located in the middle of the hot spring town with everything nearby■Points to be improved・The temperature in the guest room and the building as a whole is so high that even after returning from the bath, I am sweating again (I tried to set the temperature to a lower temperature, but it is not possible)・The temperature of the footbath is so high that some people may not be able to relax.
