Thank you for your help during the Obon period. I was very satisfied with everything, including the facilities, equipment, location, atmosphere, concept, service, customer service, and local information.Especially the dinner and breakfast were wonderful. It was the work of a professional, not only in terms of taste, but also in every detail, including the skill of the cooking and the presentation.I also appreciated that they took care to make sure my child didn't get bored.I have stayed at many inns and hotels, but this was my best memory. After checking out, I took a train from Yoshino Station to Kashihara-Jingumae Station. She seemed satisfied because she loves riding trains.

NEOLD Private House is just as its name implies... a relatively large property located about 20 minutes by car from central Mt. Yoshino that accepts just one party at a time. The house is a Kominka ("old traditional Japanese home") that has been carefully restored by the owner.Outside, there's a gorgeous Noh stage that is actually used for private performances, and a large lawn area which is set up for some of the outdoor activities, including the filming of the Shogun battle sequence for those that choose this activity. The architecture of NEOLD's buildings are stunning - the Shogun armor displays in the main tatami room are masterpieces that are meticulously constructed - the replica is made by the same artisans that were responsible for the ones used in the 2024 Shogun TV series.Mr. Ogino, the GM, and his staff members are great hosts, but that's just the start - depending on what activities (if any) you choose, they'll bring along experts in the various disciplines. For our Shogun experience, they brought in a large cast to support it. Mr. Ogino is also the chef at NEOLD. While the dinner has a few less courses than some of the more elaborate kaiseki cuisine we've had, the dishes are beautifully presented and very nicely prepared. He focuses local delicacies (including Yamato beef), and the majority of vegetables are grown in his own garden. For lunch, Mr. Ogino served us very tasty Kuzu Soba and Kuzu Udon, along with Tempura dishes.NEOLD's true calling card is in the variety of experiences that it offers. This includes Geisha/Maiko interactions, tea ceremony, Noh (Japanese Kabuki theater) / Kyogen (a comedic form of Noh) / Tezuma (Japanese magic) performances, Shaminsen (string instrument), Nihon-buyo (traditional dance), Calligraphy, cooking classes and even fishing excursions on the Yoshino River (followed by a BBQ of the freshly-caught fish.) NEOLD even offers an opportunity to fulfill one's dream of becoming a Shogun or Ninja. We were surprised to learn that we were the first guests to opt for the flagship, complete Shogun Experience - it's expensive but a memorable one. More than just a dress-up and filming exercise, the experience began from the moment we arrived - the house is represented as the Shogun's residence, and while walking towards the entrance "my" servants and vassals (clad in various feudal-era outfits) were waiting to welcome us back to our home, and even hosted a welcome ceremony. Following this, we were dressed in regular Shogun and Princess outfits and were served dinner. In addition to the regular staff at NEOLD, for the Shogun Experience they brought in actors and coordinators that operate and perform at the Samurai Cafe in Osaka. We found it humorous that for the first course, one of our vassals intercepted the dish and had a bite of it to make sure the food wasn't poisoned. After dinner, the actors performed an abbreviated, private version of their Samurai Cafe performance in the main tatami room. The next day, we were fitted in Shogun (and Himesama for the missus) battle armor accoutrements and then escorted to the outdoor lawn where we practiced the various fight sequences before eventually having the scene filmed by a professional videographer. Note that the Shogun battle scene production is an extra charge (above and beyond the Shogun experience.) We also had them create a short film to document our entire NEOLD stay. Not interested? No worries. You can also choose from a variety of other activities. Or do nothing at all. You can even stay at NEOLD and elect to not have any meals there. We had a glorious time at NEOLD Private House. It's definitely a one-of-a-kind place and a must-visit for those who are into private, bespoke stays, and eager to immerse themselves in traditional Japanese culture.

Cross Kageme Bridge, pass by Kisagaya Village and NEOLD Private House, and then go from Senbon to Mosishikimizu and Saigyouan. As sung in Princess Jing's song, "Looking up at the snow-capped mountains, there are people walking into the mountains through the snow." At this time, the cherry blossoms are like snow. During dinner, while enjoying natural ingredients, Mr. Ogino Kimihiro introduced that they had gone to South India to study Indian medicine and dietotherapy courses, hoping to incorporate Japanese-style recipes integrating medical and health care. It’s not easy to imagine what kind of sparks the combination can have, but this kind of attempt to step out of the box is quite awesome.

Chinese comments:We stayed at the Neold Private Residence for one night and had a wonderful time! We participated in the hand wife performance, and the children had close contact with the magic of traditional Japanese artists. The staff were very enthusiastic and treated our family attentively, especially we have three boys of different ages. They were all very excited and had fun. Very happy. We chose a special project and wore traditional Japanese costumes, namely the general, the samurai, the general's wife and the ninja. The details attached to the costumes are amazing, and they are definitely not ordinary clothes that you can see in daily life. The delicate fabrics, heavy armor, and complicated costumes were all made up and worn by a professional team. The heavy armor felt particularly heavy when taking pictures! The texture is extraordinary! We wore these costumes to watch the performance of the hand wives who came here specially. The performance was very gorgeous and the interaction with the children was also very joyful and friendly. The staff prepared the bathroom and hot spring in advance. After we finished, we went directly to the outdoor hot spring. It was perfect. For dinner, we prepared curry pork chop rice for the children and superb dishes for us adults. The chef is a true cooking craftsman. He spent a lot of time making a small dipping sauce. The vegetables on the table are even grown by himself, which is very sweet. Refreshing. The next morning, the staff accompanied us into the mountains. There was no one there, and we found a magnificent waterfall. It was definitely not an ordinary sight. It was beautiful and comfortable, and the whole family was immersed in joy.English Comment:We stayed at Neold's private residence for one night and had a wonderful experience! The staff were extremely warm and attentive, especially considering we had three boys of different ages who were all excited and had a great time. We opted for a special activity and dressed in traditional Japanese attire, including samurai, warrior, samurai lady, and ninja outfits, each adorned with remarkable details that were truly astonishing and far from ordinary attire . The meticulous fabrics and heavy armor, along with the intricate dressing, were meticulously done by a professional team. The heavy armor felt particularly weighty during the photo session! The texture was extraordinary! We watched the specially arranged hand-maid performances while dressed in these costumes, which were splendid, and the interaction with the children was joyful and friendly. The staff had prepared the bathroom and hot springs in advance, allowing us to head directly to the open-air hot springs after our activities—a perfect end to the day. For dinner, the children had curry rice with meat cutlets, while the adults enjoyed exquisite cuisine prepared by a truly skilled chef. Even a small dipping sauce took a significant amount of time to prepare, and the vegetables on the table were personally grown, incredibly sweet and fresh. The next morning, the staff accompanied us on a walk into the mountains, where we found a stunning waterfall in complete solitude—a sight far from ordinary, beautiful and comfortable, leaving the whole family immersed in joy.If you have the chance, it would be best to come back for two or three days. You can climb mountains and hike to the beautiful Mount Yoshino. You don’t have to worry about parking. You can also go fishing with the chef, cook by the river, and do pottery and paper art. It’s so rich and full of work. Each staff member has multiple skills, and they are also fluent in Chinese, English and French. Awesome!

Can’t say enough about NEOLD. We stayed during Sakura season and honestly pictures and words don’t do it justice. The entire staff was amazing and I can’t wait to visit again. It was such a magical experience, I would highly recommend everyone visiting Japan to stay at NEOLD. Wish we could’ve stayed longer because I’m already missing the open air bath and of course the private chefs perfectly curated meals. The attention to detail is unmatched. If you are on the fence about staying here, just book it. You won’t regret it. Also, if you are able I’d recommend staying for more than one night.

Where do I even begin? I was looking for accommodations in Yoshino during the busy Sakura season and although I saw pictures and reviews, nothing could have prepared us for the unmatched experience we received at Neold. From the pick up to the property to the intimate meal experiences created by Chef Ogino to the open air bath to the quaint neighborhood / beautiful waterfalls to Ahmed being our mighty translator and guide, I can’t have imagined a more beyond experience. Also can’t forget the best night sleep ever on the beds and the staff went out of their way to get me a bottle of soy sauce made by the local factory. The luxury here is the best of the best and this will be by far a highlight of our trip.Thank you Neold for setting the high bar as I’m not sure if the rest of trip can beat this.

Where do we even begin with our experience at NEOLD? Our family of 4 and a friend of ours visited this beautiful house in Nara Yoshino just this past week. We were greeted by Laurent at the train station when they picked up to transfer us to the house. At the house we were again greeted by Ahmed translator and host and Mr Oginosan who was also the host and chef at NEOLD.We had reserved the ninja and the food making experience for the first day. Both were so fun and the kids loved every minute of it. The staff were fully involved which made our experience more memorable.Their high quality ninja gear was so good that the kids didn’t want to take it off at the end of their experience. They ended up wearing it during their dinner. We had an amazing dinner prepared by chef Oginosan and we took a bath in their private onsen and enjoyed a relaxing evening after. The next day we had a bbq and fishing experience and again it was so fun as the kids fishes and chef prepared a wonderful bbq right by the river. Both relaxing and delicious it was an experience we would never forget. That night we had another wonderful dinner prepared by chef that we had gone to the market for in the early morning. The next day they took us to an excursion to Mt yoshino and to the miso and soy sauce factory. Both were extremely informative and we bought soy sauces to take back home with us.We are excited to say this was a very good experience for us and the children. Memories were made as well as friendships with the staff. Their personable and yet informative personalities were something we will treasure for years. Definitely something we won’t forget and highly recommend. The last day chef even made a bento for the girls and us for our trip back into Tokyo. We want to thank the entire staff. Ahmed Laurent and Mr Oginosan for a lifetime experience. We felt so taken care of and special. Thank you again!
